What You'll Get
Lao Tzu once said, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and a book with a thousand pages begins with a foreword by Malcolm Gladwell." Take the first stride with today's Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of gently used books, music, and videos at Frugal Muse in Darien.
Gently used books and media line up for inspection inside Frugal Muse’s 7,000-square-foot browsing room, which is also stocked with discounted titles hot off the presses. Popular word containers such as The Help ($7.98 used) and the Hunger Games series ($4.48 used) share a shelf with old classics including Dr. Seuss books and vintage Sears Roebuck catalogues selling build-your-own UFOs. Hardcover compilations of J.W. Waterhouse's sumptuous drawings ($49.98) yearn to share their romantic imagery on coffee tables, easels, and the hoods of muscle cars, and a selection of DVDs ($1+) includes eye-popping finds to liven up movie nights or teleconference calls. Or peruse the $1 bargain wall speckled with hidden gems, old classics, and compilations of the forgotten plays of William Shatner.

About Frugal Muse
Frugal Muse is all about second chances. Within its 7,000 sq. ft. of retail space, a novel's protagonist can take another shot at defeating the villain, finding true love, or successfully opening a pickle jar. Here, shelf after shelf holds lightly-used and discounted books, vinyl records, movies, video games, and CDs. At one end of the store, a $1 bargain wall surrounds patrons with even more discounted reading materials, while two separate rooms brim with 10,000 items for kids.
As for the source of these second-hand materials, Frugal Muse relies on its customers, who can bring in gently used items for store credit (or cash in certain cases). And while second-hand items remain the focus, the store does stock some new reading materials. The staff can even special order most books in print for about 25% off their going price.
