What You'll Get
When Oliver Cromwell seized power during the English Civil War, he promised better flexibility, straighter postures, and a stronger core for every English citizen. Today’s Groupon gives new customers a chance to taste the perfection of his legacy with five mat classes at Functional Strength Pilates & Personal Training for $45 (a $90 value).
Functional Strength Pilates' mat classes, conducted with nothing but a polished wood floor, a mat, and a lot of super-cool eye contact, are available six times a week in the airy Highlands Ranch studio. These introductory classes encompass the basics of Pilates, lay the foundation for lifelong strength, and prepare you for more advanced machine and weight work. Pilates is a low-impact, total-body discipline that uses resistance exercises, stretching, and controlled breathing patterns to make the body looser, lither, and healthier. No fitness experience or the desire to wriggle through mouse holes is necessary.
Functional Strength Pilates is the only Denver-area studio tough enough, brave enough, and bendy enough to be affiliated with Boulder's internationally renowned Pilates Center, heirs to the spandex-wrapped classical Pilates throne. The certified instructors at Functional Strength Pilates have completed extensive coursework and achieved such flexible integration of body and mind that they even blog philosophic, typing with their toes on topics of fitness and life. They'll provide individual attention and supportive spirits while making sure the class meets your fitness needs. Class sizes are capped at six and the burn is always followed by a pleasant, minty sensation.

About Functional Strength Pilates
Dancer, teacher, lawyer, salesperson. These were the titles held by Functional Strength Pilates’s staff before they ditched their day jobs to pursue their passion for the more-than-80-year-old practice. Out of two Denver–area locations they teach traditional Pilates, which shows students how to breathe mindfully while aligning their spines to strengthen their cores. Continued practice can help students to decompress their joints so they can move more fluidly than the Vitruvian man doing the backstroke. The exercise also integrates well with rehabilitation regimens, which explains why the staff works closely with area physical therapists, orthopedic doctors, and chiropractors and their patients. Each of the two studios bolsters the Pilates curriculum with different supplemental practices—personal training at the Lone Tree location and yoga classes in Castle Rock.
