Funke Fired Arts' staff of instructors and artists guides clay connoisseurs of all proficiencies in the arts of wheel throwing and sculpture in addition to hosting exhibitions in a 1,550-square-foot gallery. In adult open wheel sessions, students pound soft clay with the skill of a championship boxer in a pillow-fluffing contest every second and fourth Friday night of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Glean teapots of wisdom from individual and group instruction while feeling the gritty squish of soft earth between fingers. Each one-night clay shaping yields at least one functional pot and includes clay, tools, firing and refreshments, and the opportunity to be creative in ways that don't involve tie-dyeing flocks of snow geese.
