Desert Hideaway with Mineral Spring Pools and Organic Spa
More than a century ago, settler Cabot Yerxa was digging a well when he unearthed natural hot springs bubbling beneath the Californian desert. Today, that same mineral-rich water is used to fill up the rejuvenating jacuzzis at Aqua Soleil Hotel & Mineral Water Spa. In fact, H2O centers most of the experience here: the surrounding area is lined with pools, and the property's palm-shaded courtyard features spa tubs and a pool fed by hot springs.
In the onsite Soleil Spa, aestheticians perform detoxifying body treatments with the help of the mineral water; they also can perform facials, which help erase the effects of aging with oils, chocolate, Mickey Mouse ears, and other natural elements. During the jade massage-bed treatment in a private room, you'll lay down on a mattress filled with infrared jade balls, which have a soothing heat that eases your spine and legs.
If you purchase the weekend pool-party option, you'll enjoy free admission to pool parties on Friday and Saturday evening and all day Saturday, each of which features a DJ, food, and drinks.
Potted flowers and landscape artwork give an earthy feel to the guest rooms. The queen rooms also face a tropical courtyard garden, where you can lounge on deck chairs under the shade of palm trees.
Desert Hot Springs, California: Peaceful Small Town in the San Bernardino Foothills
Though it’s situated a bit off the beaten path in the San Bernardino Mountain foothills, Desert Hot Springs draws in many visitors for its natural mineral waters alone. These waters flow into local spas and reach temperatures of up to 148 degrees. The calming desert landscapes help lend an air of peaceful seclusion.
In 1913, town founder Cabot Yerxa used material found throughout the desert to handcraft a Hopi-influenced pueblo home that towers four stories high. It’s now immortalized as Cabot's Pueblo Museum and open for tours.
Meanwhile, there’s a retro '50s- and '60s-influenced vibe to the architecture of Palm Springs. Located about 10 miles south of the hotel, the ritzy vacation spot features world-class golf courses and shopping centers.
