Blue Ridge Manor Bed and Breakfast

Two-Night Stay for Two at Blue Ridge Manor Bed & Breakfast in Cana, VA

Give as a Gift

Quiet Country Inn Minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway

In 2010, Dave and Darlene Juliana converted their home of more than 30 years into the Blue Ridge Manor Bed & Breakfast. The white house sits on a private, 36-acre estate at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Stop by for a visit, and the Julianas will go out of their way to make you feel like part of the family. Darlene whips up homemade gourmet breakfasts to serve in the dining room, and Dave–when available–will personally escort guests along the onsite walking trails, with the couple's dog in tow.

Darlene's elaborate three-course breakfasts usually include omelets, meat casseroles, and sweet breads. The meal is served family-style around a big dining table that seats eight, but you can also enjoy one in-room breakfast during your stay. Offerings such as french toast and pancakes are often spruced up with peaches, apples, and cherries taken from the orchards onsite. "We also have a 13-acre walnut farm," Darlene points out, "so right now I'm soaking the nuts for a black-walnut preserve." The kitchen stays open all day long, and guests are encouraged to help themselves to snacks and family photos affixed to the refrigerator.

The inn sits only 4 miles from an entrance to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, which runs through the heart of the surrounding mountains. There's also plenty to do on the property. Take a stroll along moss-covered walking trails, cast a line into the stocked fishing ponds, or savor panoramic mountain views from a front-porch rocking chair. For an especially indulgent afternoon, enjoy an anti-aging facial (included with this Getaway) that comes with a microdermabrasion treatment and a collagen booster. At the end of they day, individually decorated guest rooms offer homey comforts such as free movies.

Blue Ridge Highlands: Scenic Mountain Country with Thriving Folk-Music Scene

The town of Cana is nestled in the foothills of southwest Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, only a few miles from the famous Blue Ridge Parkway. One of the country's most popular scenic drives, this 470-mile road winds past wildflower meadows and farmlands along the lavender crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Attractions along the Virginia side of the byway include hiking trails, picnic spots, and Mabry Mill, a beautifully restored grist- and sawmill where workers demonstrate old-time skills such as seat caning and basket weaving.

Often called the birthplace of country music, the highlands region is home to a legendary music scene rooted in traditional bluegrass and folk. Head to the Blue Ridge Music Center (located about 20 miles west of the inn) for live jamboree performances. Cana is also an ideal base for exploring the dozens of vineyards that make up Virginia's award-winning wine region.
