Spacious, Family Friendly Suites Minutes from Walt Disney World
After the success of Disneyland in the 1950s, Walt Disney set out for his next venture, Disney World, making sure to retain enough space in central Florida to buffer his sprawling dreamland from the real world. Rather than encroaching on the magic of Disney's kingdom, many hoteliers seem to have taken the cue, complementing the park with resorts on par with Disney World's whimsy. With its colorful pink, blue, and yellow façades, playground, and water volcano and slide, Cypress Pointe Grande Villas aims to do just that—and all within short driving distance of Disney World and other major theme parks.
Like a home away from home, all of Cypress Pointe's suites come with fully stocked kitchens, master bedrooms, and whirlpool-jet tubs. Foldout sleeper sofas in the living room accommodate additional friends, family, and members of the Swedish national cricket team, and two-bedroom units measure in at more than 1,300 square feet and boast an extra set of twin beds and an additional bathroom. A private, screened patio or balcony extends from each suite, overlooking the resort's two pools or landscaped, palm-studded gardens.
Orlando, Florida: World-Class Shopping and Theme Parks
About 6 miles from Disney World and Universal Studios, Cypress Pointe Grande Villas is perfectly poised between the amusement parks that put Orlando on the international map for vacationers. But with nearly 100 lakes networked by canals, Orlando has plenty to explore outside of the amusement parks. Malls and trendy retailers dot the major intersections downtown in upscale Thornton Park. About a 20-minute drive north, smaller boutiques and chocolatiers line the brick-paved streets in Winter Park.
Still, most families can't resist the allure of seven major theme parks within a 10-mile radius. Disney characters come to life at the 107-acre Magic Kingdom, where Cinderella's Castle towers over gentle children's rides and adrenaline-pumping roller coasters. Like Pinocchio's nose when he tells bad knock-knock jokes, the park's Fantasyland is currently doubling in size for an ongoing expansion, with the first phases of the New Fantasyland scheduled to open in early 2012.
