Quiet, Queen Anne Victorian B & B with Unmatched Hospitality
At the start of each day, Micki Coriell snaps into action. As the innkeeper in residence at The Lennox House Bed and Breakfast, it’s her job to make sure that no guest goes without a homemade, gourmet breakfast. It’s part of the commitment to hospitality that permeates this charming bed-and-breakfast, housed in a Queen Anne Victorian home whose very exterior seems to offer a friendly welcome, with its cheerful yellow paint job and front porch filled with inviting rocking chairs. Built in 1891, the house retains many of its original features, including a carved oak staircase, stained-glass windows, and an Italian-tile fireplace.
Four spacious guest rooms fill the house, each decorated according to a different seasonal theme. The elegant Summer Escape room stands out with its handsome oak four-poster bed and private bath with a romantic tub for two. Inspired by the snowy slopes of the Rockies, the Winter Hideaway room invites guests to snuggle into luxurious bedding or construct alpine dioramas in the claw-footed bathtub. The Falcon's Nest suite occupies the third floor with two bedrooms and a sitting room sporting a cozy rustic motif. The spacious suite is also outfitted with a full kitchen and a table for dining or playing games.
Colorado Springs: Thriving Cultural Scene Where the Mountains Meet the Plains
Among Colorado cities, Colorado Springs is second only to Denver in population, but it still has the feel of a frontier outpost thanks to its awe-inspiring mountains, vast plains stretching eastward, and grizzled prospectors panning for gold in public water fountains. Pike’s Peak anchors the landscape, beckoning to intrepid travelers eager to hike its craggy slopes or take a scenic drive on the 19-mile Pike’s Peak Highway, which doubles as a racing course during the annual Pike’s Peak Hill Climb. The city boasts a number of cultural attractions as well; just a few steps from Lennox House, downtown Colorado Springs encompasses the Fine Arts Center and the Philharmonic as well as several fine-dining restaurants.
