Contemporary Mediterranean-Inspired Estate with Views of the Santa Rosa Mountains

In the gardens at Miramonte Resort & Spa, vines of bougainvillea climb up a trellis propped next to what looks like an Italian villa. Close at hand, 15 more villa-style structures with terra-cotta roofs sprawl out in the valley property. In its architecture and aura, Miramonte Resort & Spa resembles Tuscany; in place of Italy's rolling countryside, though, the resort is surrounded by the rugged Santa Rosa Mountains.

A private patio branches off of each 450-square-foot luxury room at the resort, and each patio leads to a communal herb garden lined with plants such as sage, basil, and rosemary. These herbs—as well as citrus fruits and olives from onsite groves—are incorporated into the fresh, seasonal food served at The Grove Artisan Kitchen. Executive Chef Robert Nyerick crafts a tasty menu of farm-to-table cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients including organic produce and fresh seafood.

Nearby at The Well Spa, you can practice yoga, receive a massage, or dive for taffy in the saltwater pool. Resort guests also enjoy easy access to three championship golf courses as well as the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, which doubles as an entertainment venue that has hosted celebrated celebrities and musicians.

Within each luxury room, a color scheme of olive, sand, and nutmeg adds to the Mediterranean feel. A 42-inch flat-screen TV adorns the opposite wall, positioned alongside a sitting area.

Staff Q&A: Palm Springs, California

Amanda H. is a voice editor at Groupon. She likes napping on the train and death metal. Below, she shares her thoughts on Palm Springs and its many golf courses.

Describe your perfect day here.

Getting some spa time when it's hot out during the day. Then, once the sun goes down, heading to a local Mexican restaurant and trawling for bars or clubs.

What's the most authentic souvenir you could bring back from this place?

A personal record on one of the area's roughly 14 billion golf courses.

What's the best thing you ate on the trip, and where did you get it?

I like the Mexican food at any of the restaurants owned by the Delgado family, especially Las Casuelas Terraza.

What was the most stressful moment of your visit, and how can others avoid the same thing?

Trying to get into and photograph country clubs I didn't belong to. Don't do that. Get a visitor's pass or join up, because being chased off the premises by a 60-year-old rent-a-cop is really embarrassing.

What should someone read, listen to, or watch to mentally prepare for a visit?

Frank Sinatra records and golf movies. Maybe Caddyshack or Tin Cup-hopefully they can psych you up to play some golf.
