The H Hotel

One- or Two-Night Stay at The H Hotel in Midland, MI

Elegant Hotel near the Tridge in Downtown Midland

Where the Tittabawassee and Chippewa Rivers converge in downtown Midland, Michigan, there's an intersection of three arching footbridges made of wood. Known as the Tridge, this is perhaps Midland's most photogenic landmark. Fewer than three blocks away stands The H Hotel, which rents out bikes for no charge so guests can explore the network of riverfront pathways connecting the Tridge to downtown.

Positioned on Main Street, the hotel exudes a contemporary elegance. The lobby has an ivory color scheme, textured walls, and modern furniture. The upscale vibe extends to deluxe rooms outfitted with sleek bathrooms and beds covered in plush feather bedding.

The names of the hotel's restaurants and bar pay homage to the periodic table. Café Zinc's chefs craft casual French fare, including pastries and artisan bread, three times a day. Table serves up gourmet offerings such as veal chops and fire-grilled lobster. And at Bar Oxygen, bartenders will show you how to use nuclear fission to remove tonic water from a cocktail. Off the lobby is an expansive fitness center outfitted with cardio machines and free weights. The fitness center, indoor pool, and whirlpool stay open 24 hours a day.

Midland, Michigan: Small Town Flush with Green Spaces and Urban Museums

Despite its name, Midland lies only 25 miles from the eastern coast of Michigan and the shores of Lake Huron's Saginaw Bay. The quiet town was ranked as one of the top five Best Small Cities to Raise a Family by Forbes magazine in 2010. Its relatively diminutive size notwithstanding, Midland is well-known as the international headquarters of the Dow Chemical Company, established in 1879.

The Dow family left behind fine architecture and tranquil garden spaces throughout the town. Herbert Dow, the company's founder, created the Dow Gardens—110 acres of manicured lawns with ponds, fountains, flowers, and a butterfly house. The gardens are located less than a mile away from The H Hotel.

Herbert's son, Alden, became an architect who completed more than 350 structures during his career, and many of them are in Midland. Today, you can tour his private quarters at the Alden B. Dow Home and Studio, a National Historic Landmark. He was an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, and Wright's influence is evident in Dow's works, which are characterized by pops of color, geometric designs, and the use of natural light.

We frequent 3-4 star hotels at least twice a year. This hotel has the BEST service ever. The best housekeeping -( Thank you Megan!) Very, very clean. Comfortable feather top beds. Free use of their bikes including bikes built to seat 4 and 6. The area has beautiful and well kept bike trails. A water play area for young children. We are definitely goimg back.
