Homey Condos near Vail’s Best Attractions
Every summer after the snow melts on Vail Mountain, the famed skiing hot spot plays host to a parade of music and performing-arts festivals. This year’s Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival will bring the New York Philharmonic to town, and the Vail International Dance Festival will feature the renowned Martha Graham Dance Company for the first time. Between shows, summer visitors enjoy miles of mountain-biking and hiking trails. Vail International Condominiums sits in the middle of it all—a five-minute walk from popular Lionshead restaurants and just seven minutes from the boutiques at Vail Village.
Comfortable two-bedroom condos are decorated in a range of styles. Some feature antler chandeliers and snowshoes hung over the fireplace, and others have granite countertops and huge black-and-white photographs of snowy Vail Mountain. You can see that peak in 3-D from a private balcony. Every condo also has a fireplace as well as a fully equipped kitchen.
A little waterfall splashes into the property’s outdoor hot tub, which sits next to a heated swimming pool and barbecue area. Head inside for a workout at the fitness center, which boasts more mountain views and separate steam rooms for men and women.
Vail, Colorado: Mountain Playground in the Heart of the Rockies
Set among dramatic peaks and ponderosa pines, Vail is one of Colorado's most posh and popular sites for mountain recreation. About 5 miles east of the hotel, White River National Forest spreads across clear mountain streams and flowered meadows at the base of the towering Rockies. The 2.3-million-acre woodland is home to wildlife habitats and is a great place to go biking or fishing. The nearby Vail Nature Center hosts fly-fishing tutorials, guided hikes, and photography classes on 7 acres of meadows.
Dwarf evergreens, crocuses, and waterfalls contribute to the meditative vibe at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens, one of the highest-altitude botanical gardens in the world. After a day of outdoor adventures, you can stop at the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Museum to learn about the evolution of winter sports. On Wednesdays and Sundays, historical Vail Village walking tours set out from the museum and wind through the town's upscale streets.
