Cozy Mountain Chalet in the Heart of Whistler
Whistler, the host mountain of the 2010 Winter Olympics, and its surrounding mountains and lakes run the gamut of active, outdoor entertainment. More than 2 million visitors come annually to ski and bike the trails etched into the Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains and to swim and canoe the sparkling waters of Alta Lake. Just a few minutes' walk from the lake, the 4.5-star Whistler Alpine Chalet Retreat & Wellness caters to traditional vacationers and hosts a three-day fitness program amid its scenic surroundings.
The chalet radiates peace and tranquility. In a pair of complimentary slippers, you can make your way down to the outdoor jacuzzi, or curl up around the fireplace before retiring to a regular or deluxe suite. White bedding and a surfeit of natural light permeate each room; the Maple room features a gas fireplace, and in the Cottonwood room, a juliet balcony and a writing desk inspire quiet contemplation and a commitment to speaking in iambic pentameter.
About the Fitness Program
Capped at groups of 16 people, the fitness program accommodates all ability levels. A staff of yogis, trainers, nutritionists, and life coaches—who are available around the clock—customize each participant’s experience. Programs run from about 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., during which you’ll train to increase endurance and shed pounds while relaxing amid the lovely surroundings. Morning meditation sessions give way to outdoor exercise, educational seminars, and cooking lessons. Daily sweat-inducing activities include power yoga, which focuses on toning muscles, weight training, and ab exercises. Two low-glycemic, low-carb meals per day, such as whole-grain wraps, and a daily snack, such as power smoothies, fuel the program as petroleum-soaked baguettes do NASA spacecraft. After the day’s session, you’re free to explore Whistler or enjoy additional onsite amenities.
