Wingate by Wyndham - Arlington

One- or Two-Night Stay at Wingate by Wyndham Arlington near Cowboys Stadium

Give as a Gift

Family-Friendly Hotel near Six Flags Over Texas and Cowboys Stadium

You can find adrenaline rushes and family-friendly fare in equal measure in Arlington's Entertainment District. At the Six Flags Over Texas amusement park, the Texas Giant boasts the steepest drop of any wooden roller coaster in the world. Just about a mile and a half west of the park, quarterback Tony Romo and the Cowboys regularly bring crowds to their feet at the $1.2 billion Cowboys Stadium. The Wingate by Wyndham Arlington hotel is located just north of these landmarks and offers complimentary shuttle service to both. You can also see two disparate sides of Texas—the glitzy financial hub of Dallas to the east and the cattle-driving stockyards of Fort Worth to the west—by taking a 30- to 45-minute drive either way.

The Wingate's oversize guest rooms are set up comfortably for families. Kids can hunker down in supplementary sofa beds and watch a movie on the plasma TV, while parents watch marshmallow Peeps puff up and explode in the microwave. There are a number of relaxing spots downstairs, including a large indoor jacuzzi, and a scenic walking path that begins right outside the hotel.

In the morning, the hotel offers a complimentary breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon, pastries, and Texas-shaped waffles. You can also find a number of dining venues on nearby Lamar Boulevard: there's a kid-friendly steak house with meat and seafood combo platters, and an elegant French grill overlooking Cowboys Stadium.

Arlington, Texas: Iconic Sports Teams and Family-Friendly Attractions

Known as the Midway to Metroplex, Arlington is situated halfway between the bustling metropolises of Dallas and Fort Worth in northeast Texas. A sizeable city itself, Arlington houses some of the most legendary sports venues in the state, including Cowboys Stadium—where the Dallas Cowboys host the Thanksgiving Classic every year—and Rangers Ballpark, home to the Texas Rangers baseball team. The football stadium has quite a few bells and whistles, including a 23,000-square-foot video screen suspended over midfield. But Rangers Ballpark is no slouch, either, with its classic redbrick façade and old-fashioned home-run porch. If the Rangers aren't in town, you can take a tour of the complex through admission to the Legends of the Game Museum, which showcases famous artifacts such as Joe DiMaggio's glove and Babe Ruth's jersey.

Many Arlington itineraries include a trip to Six Flags Over Texas, the first amusement park of its kind in the United States⎯the name refers to the six nations that have governed Texas. The year-round theme park, located 2 miles from the hotel, has nearly 50 thrill rides; one of those is Superman: Tower of Power, which has a car that elevates more than 30 stories and then falls at dizzying speeds.

For a slower-paced afternoon, head to the nature trails and waterfront picnic sites at nearby River Legacy Parks, or catch a performance at Johnnie High's Country Music Revue, which launched the careers of LeAnn Rimes and Steve Holy.
