After settling in, you can spend all of Day 2 exploring Beijing, a massive city that mixes futuristic skyscrapers and centuries-old temples and palaces. You can take an optional side tour to check out the Great Wall, considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
During this leg of the trip, you’ll take a guided tour of top Beijing attractions, including Tiananmen Square, one of the largest city squares in the world. Once the gateway to the Imperial Palace, the square is home to the National Museum of China, Chairman Mao’s memorial, and the Monument to People’s Heroes, a granite obelisk that stands nearly 10 stories tall.

Days 5–8: Yangtze River Cruise Toward Xian
A brief flight takes you south to Yichang, where you’ll board The Victoria Jenna for a four-day cruise to visit small towns and gorges along the Yangtze River. You’ll see the massive Three Gorges Dam, which will soon serve as a major source of hydro-electric power in China.
Next, in Wushan, the tour takes a side trip to the Lesser Three Gorges. The river here is bordered by lush green mountainsides and rock caves. Later, at Wu Gorge, you’ll get views of 12 peaks shrouded in mist.
Before setting out for Xian, you can spend your final day on the Yangtze aboard The Victoria Jenna, or visit one of the surrounding villages.

While in Xian, you can spend the day free or choose an optional tour for an additional fee including the Terra Cotta Warriors—7,000 sculptures of soldiers that each have distinctive features.
In the afternoon, the optional tour stops off at the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a towering Buddhist pagoda that dates back to 500 AD. At night, enjoy a show that celebrates the Tang Dynasty with elaborate costumes, dancing, and folk music.
