My wife and I celebrated our 15th anniversary in Thailand with Affordable World. We did the 10 day trip. We had the time of our lives!! I was wary at first since I haven't done a tour like this but by the end of the trip I told my wife I wouldn't wanna travel to a foreign country trip without booking with Affordable World. Our guides were the most awesome people and knew Thailand very well since they were both locals who grew up in Thailand. Sharky and Kitty are the guides everyone should request. Especially Sharky. He cared so much about everyone in the group. We had a lot of people in our group but he gave each and every person an individualized experience to make sure they were having a good time. There was a lot of work that went into our tour. I'm not sure how these guys made money on us cuz we got it for cheap and we got to stay in the nicest hotels. One of our hotels was right on the beach!! They included SOOOOO much with the tour. I thought the only way we'd have a good time is if we added tours and paid our own way on a lot of stuff. I was dead wrong. They included breakfast every single day and lunch on a few of the days. We ate like royalty!! They also included some amazing tours and great advice on what to do outside the tour. A lot of the things you can do in Thailand are super cheap or no cost at all. I highly highly recommend this trip with Affordable World. Especially if you can get Sharky as your tour guide.

Experience the bustle of Bangkok, Pattaya, and Aytthaya, visit historic temples, and see the River Kwai on this 10-day tour of Thailand

10-Day Tour of Thailand

See Bangkok’s Buddhist temples, take a train over the River Kwai, and see the ancient capital of Siam on this city-hopping tour of Thailand. An English-speaking tour guide will familiarize you with each destination; you’ll also have the chance to visit famous sites and embark on optional side trips. This tour includes:

  • Round-trip airfare from Los Angeles (LAX), Houston (IAH), San Francisco (SFO), or New York (JFK)
  • 4 nights of standard accommodations at the 4.5-star Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok or similar
  • 1 night of standard accommodations at Felix River Kwai Resort or similar in Kanchanaburi
  • 1 night of standard accommodations at the 4-star Krungsri River Hotel or similar in Ayutthaya
  • 2 nights of standard accommodations at the 4-star Long Beach Garden Hotel & Spa or similar in Pattaya
  • Daily breakfast and some meals (per itinerary)
  • Professional English-speaking tour guide
  • Fuel surcharge and tax
  • Round-trip airport transfers in each city
  • Orientation tour in each city

Bangkok

After a day’s flight from the United States, you’ll arrive in Thailand’s capital city. Bangkok delivers dazzling diversity, ranging from Buddhist monasteries to floating markets to neon-lit nightclubs. Stops include the Grand Palace and an outdoor flower market.

  • See the world’s largest Buddha: The solid-gold statue at Wat Traimit weighs in at a staggering 10,000 pounds.
  • Visit Bangkok’s oldest temple and see a gold-leaf-covered Buddha that sprawls a length of more than 150 feet.
  • Optional excursions: dinner of traditional Thai cuisine along with a live dance performance ($40/person) and a landmark tour with a boat ride ($60/person)

River Kwai/Kanchanaburi

The Burma-Thailand Railway was built during World War II to link the two neighboring countries. On this leg of the trip, you’ll pass over the River Kwai while traveling along the train’s historic route.

  • Bridge on the River Kwai: Immortalized in the 1957 film of the same name, this bridge offers views of the surrounding tree-lined mountains.
  • River Kwai War Cemetery commemorates the fallen prisoners of war who built the Burma-Thailand Railway.
  • Optional elephant trek: Climb atop an elephant for a 30-minute ride through the forest followed by a bamboo-river-raft cruise and dinner ($50/person).

Ayutthaya

You’ll travel to Ayutthaya next; the city reigned as the capital of Siam for more than four centuries. You can still see the relics of Siam’s grand palaces and monasteries.

  • Bang Pa-In Palace once served as a summer hideaway for Thai kings. The grounds are decorated with gilded thrones and shrubs that have been pruned to resemble rabbits, elephants, and Ross Perot.
  • Wat Phra Si Sanphet was named one of Lonely Planet’s top choices to see. This 14th-century temple’s three conical stone stupas contain the remains of kings.
  • Optional dinner cruise aboard a rice barge ($40/person)

Pattaya

White-sand beaches, a vibrant Chinatown district, and markets full of handmade goods are highlights of the resort town of Pattaya—your last stop before returning to Bangkok for one day before your flight home.

  • Sriracha Tiger Zoo: More than 200 bengal tigers live in this zoo, located in the town where the world-famous hot sauce got its name. Live crocodile wrestling and pig races are other diversions.
  • Optional excursions: Swim and snorkel off the coast of Coral Island, just a scenic boat ride from Pattaya ($35/person), or pair a cabaret show with dinner ($50/person).

Wonderful bargain and perfect trip! We barely lifted a finger our entire trip - all transportation was classy and punctual. Tour guides were excellent. Accommodations were small but safe and clean, breakfasts were delicious. Communication with Affordable World was very good before and during our trip. Excellent for couples but due to the schedule may be difficult to manage with kids.
