Boutique Hotel with Views of the Atlantic and Relaxing Sea-Coast Dining

Ashworth by the Sea has stood along Hampton, New Hampshire's Ocean Boulevard for more than 100 years. The hotel's retro sign—made up of slanting white letters set across a brick wall—is a distinctive feature along this oceanfront, which is regarded as one of New England's finest. Hotel guests are treated to wide-open views of Hampton Beach and the Atlantic Ocean from their guest rooms, as well as from a rooftop deck located directly underneath the sign.

The boutique hotel’s king standard rooms overlook the Atlantic Ocean. Since the hotel is more than a century old, each room has an individual style and floor plan. Elsewhere, you can take a dip in the heated indoor pool, which sparkles under a roof made from hundreds of translucent-yellow glass panes.

Executive chef Derek Kucharski presides over Breakers Restaurant and Bar, where cooks craft New England clam chowder and other signature dishes. Recent renovations have outfitted the restaurant with a stone fireplace, granite-topped bar, and wood flooring. On Friday and Saturday nights, Breakers offers live entertainment starting at 9 p.m.

Hampton, New Hampshire: Historic New England Resort Town with Award-Winning Beaches

Ashworth by the Sea overlooks Hampton Beach, one of only four shorelines in the country named a “superstar beach” by the Natural Resources Defense Council. The award goes to those beaches deemed the safest in the United States thanks to a record of clean swimming water. A popular spot for visitors, the beach provides plenty of space for those looking to spread out and relax by the ocean. There’s also a boardwalk lining the beach, teeming with carnival games and candy shops.

If it’s too cold to lay on the beach, head to the Hampton Historical Society & Tuck Museum, about 3 miles from the hotel, to learn more about the area’s history. The museum encompasses several buildings, including a 19th-century schoolhouse. About a 20-minute drive away is the city of Portsmouth, a historic seaport with a plethora of restaurants, museums, and shops, as well as spectacular architecture from as early as the 18th century.
