Two-City Scotland Vacation with Airfare & 4-Star Hotels

Visit the seaside cities of Edinburgh and Aberdeen on this 8-day vacation from Beyond Boundaries Travel. You'll have plenty of time to explore each city and travel through the lush Scottish countryside by rental car. The vacation includes:

  • Round-trip airfare from New York (JFK)
  • 3-night standard accommodations at the 4-star historic Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen
  • 3-night standard accommodations at the 4-star historic George Hotel in Edinburgh
  • Rental car on Days 5–8
  • Entrance to over 70 historic attractions
  • Air, hotel, and car rental taxes

Day 1: Flight from New York to Edinburgh

Days 2–4: Edinburgh

Scotland's capital city is rich with history, from the family-owned pubs lining the cobblestone streets to the hilltop medieval castles. One must-see is Edinburgh Castle, which has loomed on a craggy hilltop above the city since the 11th century, when it was built for King Malcolm III and the future St. Margaret. Statues of Robert the Bruce, collections of priceless jewels, and ancient cannons chronicle the building's rich history.

  • Stay in the heart of the city: The 18th-century George Hotel is centrally located in Edinburgh, within a short walk of Edinburgh Castle, the National Museum of Scotland, and the city's main train station.
  • Drink like a local: Order a malt whiskey at one of the local pubs lining Grassmarket, a charming square in Edinburgh's historic Old Town.
  • Day trip: Take the train an hour into Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, to explore its Victorian city center and renowned museums, art galleries, and restaurants.

Days 5–7: Aberdeen

You'll pick up your rental car on the morning of Day 5 to make the three-hour drive to Aberdeen.

Aberdeen and the surrounding countryside—an area known as Aberdeenshire—has one of the UK's densest concentrations of castles. Follow the Castle Trail to see 17 of the region's most famous manors, including the fairytale-like Crathes Castle and Dunnottar Castle, which sits on a cliff overlooking the North Sea. Nearly 50 golf courses can be found in Aberdeenshire, making it a popular pilgrimage for golfers around the world. Book a round at the Old Course at St. Andrews Links to play on one of the world's oldest courses. Its nickname is "Home of Golf," because the modern version of the game was conceived there in the 15th century.

  • Stay in a 19th-century mansion: Perched on 30 acres a few miles outside of the city, Ardoe House Hotel features a spa, gourmet restaurant, and a drawing room lounge adorned with dark wood paneling, a chandelier, and grand fireplace.
  • Stroll like a local: Head a few miles north to Pitmedden Garden to hike its woodland walks, learn about agricultural history at its museum of farming, and browse gardens brimming with more than 40,000 plants.
  • Day trips: Take a drive to Cairngorms National Park, which holds Britain's tallest mountain range—and the infamous Loch Ness.

Day 8: Flight from Edinburgh to New York
