Absolutely incredible and underpriced! The property is tucked away so peacefully and it’s a real life paradise with flowers and curious humming birds everywhere you turn! The massages are first rate luxury options and the host will arrange for some incredible tours if you ask. They go the extra mile! It’s a real family run place but with excellent chefs. Even the bathrooms are gorgeous!!! Book it.

Food was excellent. Service was top-notch. We did a day trip to snorkel and it was the best snorkeling trip we’ve ever been on. You don’t get to swim with sharks every day!

The most amazing place on Earth I have had the pleasure of stay at Abeeza 5 times now and will continue to make that number grow each year. From the food to the service it is all top notch. The resort itself is beautiful and SO relaxing. If you're looking to do any excursions they have the best guides out there. You won't regret booking a stay here!

Mixed experience of positives & drawbacks, not suited for extroverted solo travelers on a moderate budget I stayed at Abezza for 4 nights for my first solo international trip. I used the Chase credit card travel agent to find the resort. While there were some definite highlights of my stay there, if I had to do it over I would have done my own hotel research and stayed elsewhere. But first, the positives. The grounds that the resort is on are BEAUTIFUL. Palm trees everywhere, lots of beautiful hibiscus and other plants, and a lovely marsh area where you can bird watch. I woke up every morning to birdsongs of at least 12 different bird species- so cool! The two pools were lovely, and all the lounging spaces were nice. The mud massage I got was fantastic- excellent masseuse and the outdoor bath made me feel like a goddess. All the staff are very kind and truly do their best to meet guest needs. Sandy, one of the servers, was a lovely young woman to chat with during mealtimes. Delwin was my tour guide for cave tubing and Altun Ha- he was not only very polite, but he was very knowledgeable as a guide and answered all my questions. Now, the drawbacks. The biggest one, and one that Abezza can’t necessarily control, is that for most of my stay I was the *only* guest at the resort. With the size of the resort, being the only guest there felt very odd, especially around mealtimes in the dining area. I am very grateful that Abezza was accommodating with the tours I was interested in and didn’t charge me the private tour rate, but I know it would have positively impacted my experience had there been other people on the tour with me. Secondly, I was disappointed with the food- it felt very overpriced ($25-30 for an entree), and the dishes themselves were often not exciting to me. Meals are cooked to order and there are different chef specials every day, which sounds great in theory but the dish options were sometimes stir fry or pasta, when really I wanted more traditional Belizean food. I was surprised and disappointed that some of the most traditional Belizean dishes were never on the menu- stew chicken, rice & beans, plantains, tamales, fry jacks- but that the lunch menu had an entire American comfort food section that included hot dogs and pizza. Given how isolated Abezza is, they are essentially the only food option while you’re a guest so that was frustrating for me. Thirdly, the isolation itself of Abezza— while in theory it is nice to be so far off the beaten path in a very quiet, rural area, that also meant that prices for tours were much higher because most required at least a one hour drive. One frustrating example was the Baboon Sanctuary: Abezza charges $80 USD but when you enter you pay the sanctuary an additional $10 and one of THEIR guides does the tour. So essentially the $80 is just the 3hr round trip drive. The resort property itself also seemed a little past its prime with half built buildings on the outskirts, which was a very odd juxtaposition with the drivers using shiny white Teslas for tours. There was also nonstop electronic instrumental music from this one playlist that was played in the dining areas and in all the cars. So my stay at Abezza was a mixed bag of positives and some drawbacks. I had a pleasant time and really enjoyed exploring the country of Belize and relaxing in the beautiful natural scenery. I just think for my next trip I will choose a resort that isn’t so isolated and has a more reliably traditional and affordable food menu.

Paradise What an incredible place to stay. It was like being in our own little paradise. The pools were crystal clear, we were pampered, the food was fresh and delicious. The owner and drivers were so knowledgeable and helpful. If I ever return to Belize, I will spend the entire trip at this resort and make day trips.
