Hotel at a Glance: Ahnvee Resort and Sports All-Inclusive

Ahnvee Resort and Sports feels like a tropical country club, and not just because golf carts help guests zip around the property. Instead, it’s those carts’ destinations—pool with poolside bars, a gym and recreational gaming area, and a reflexology spa—that create the luxe, relaxing vibe. The carefree atmosphere extends to four gourmet restaurants on the property.

  • In-room amenities include flat-screen TVs and WiFi.
  • Prime beef is served at Crave Prime Steak and Lobster.
  • Play a game in the full-size water polo pool or catch a movie outdoors and munch on free popcorn.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic: Waterfalls, Beaches, and Centuries-Old Historical Sites

Situated on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, Puerto Plata is best known for its sun-kissed beaches. But the province has several breathtaking geographical features inland as well. Damajagua is a natural water park of sorts—it features 27 waterfalls flowing from limestone formations. Tour guides lead groups through the falls, and you can swim and occasionally slide down the natural water slides.

You can get an aerial view of Puerto Plata and the Caribbean Sea on a teleférico, or cable car. One of them climbs 2,565 feet to the apex of Mount Isabel de Torres, which is crowned with botanical gardens and a replica of Rio de Janeiro’s massive Christ the Redeemer statue. Take a scenic drive to Parque Histórico La Isabela and you’ll find the remains of a church as well as the ruins of a colonial village.

The service at this resort was incredible. 24 hour shuttle, bar and restaurant, and super helpful staff. In my opinion, the only downfall is the bathroom setup, open concept shower and toilet is not a very good idea. Other than that, amazing place.

Food was great. Staff was FANTASTIC. A bit of Confusion on groupon’s end on what was included. Food and beverages are included. No boring buffet food. Cajun restaurant, Chinese, and an absolute amazing steak restaurant. Will definitely visit again. Bathroom is in the middle of the room, but it wasn’t a big deal.

Horrible Just horrible from dirty rooms, dirty sheets, the grounds are run down, my room safe didn't have a key so I couldn't use it, the window lock was broke which left my room unsecured, there was dead bugs in the room, I pre-order a pin house and my room was giving away before I got there, security is no where to be found on property at night and locals are free to roam the property at night. I was supposed to stay a week, but I chose to leave on the second day, and both desk receptionists denied giving me my check out paperwork, which is needed for a refund if you booked 3rd party. I requested a supervisor and was denied that, and this is during business hours. I am a frequent traveler of the world, and this is the worst hotel experience that I have ever experienced. I gave them the benefit of the doubt when I saw all the recent bad reviews online and by travel content creators. Also, another clue when I got there was that the place was nearly completely empty.

I left immediately after checking out 2 different rooms. Pics are not current. May have been a nice place when first built, but is run down now & they do not do up keep on it. Pools in rooms are nasty & dirty, not filtered like a normal pool, so scum & muck in water. Very dark inside, not brightly lit up like in photos. Just horrible.

The worst place to stay in Sosua! When I booked the trip, I had no idea how terrible this place was. The sheets were dirty, along with the whole room. There was a pool in the room, which was also dirty. Also the place is dated, and very run down. I would advise anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Sosua to pass this place up, you can think me later!
