Omaha, Nebraska: Historic Downtown with Vibrant Arts and Dining Scenes

The largest city in Nebraska, Omaha is located near the Iowa-Nebraska border, on the western shore of the Missouri River. The city has been praised as an affordable place to visit and live; The Huffington Post named Omaha the top “Best Bang for Your Buck” city in 2012. Most of the city’s restaurants and bars are concentrated in the historic Old Market district, a cluster of cobblestone streets and turn-of-the-century buildings located downtown. There’s also a lively cultural scene here, from Broadway shows and jazz concerts at the Orpheum Theater to large-scale sculptures and ceramics courtesy of resident artists at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts.

Visitors can learn about the city’s history at The Durham Museum. Housed in Omaha’s former Union Station—a beautiful art-deco building built in 1931—the Smithsonian-affiliated museum is the place to see 1940s storefronts, explore vintage train cars, and drink a strawberry phosphate from the authentic 1931 soda fountain.

We booked a queen room and a two double bed room. When we got there they just so happened to be conjoined, which made the experience so much better. Everything was very clean, the staff was wonderful and the free breakfast was great! We will be using this hotel from now on when we go to Omaha.

We loved it other than the out of control kids that continually visited the pool. Our kids loved the room as well as the open lobby area. Close to several restaurants and shopping as well as a close proximity to the Zoo.

Absolutely disgusting Cockroaches, mold, gross never cleaned floors, nothing works in the hotel or room, not stocked with any toiletries, the toilet was still dirty, staff all rude, shady people hanging out around and in the hotel all night. So much wrong with that place. Talked to other guests and some also had gross rooms so it's a thing there.

Over priced for out dated room No food, no WiFi, no business center, rooms need to be updated due to very old decor and very old appliances. Room was very hot even with air conditioning turned all the way down, had to go and buy a fan. No food offered at the hotel except for candy.

So disappointed! We arrived and went to check in. The man at the desk stated that the wifi was out and if that was a deal breaker we could get a refund. Didn't tell us that the pool was out, too! THAT was a deal breaker. The description also mentioned a restaurant and bar. There was neither of those, either. When I mentioned the pool in the morning, the guy simply shrugged and said "sorry" I would never stay there again as the description was totally wrong and staff didn't seem to care about making their customers happy. The AC in the room didn't cool well, either.
