King of Prussia, Pennsylvania: Revolutionary History at Every Turn

Colonial and revolutionary history surround King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. George Washington led troops to battle in nearby Germantown, and Valley Forge National Historical Park houses the general’s original headquarters and several soldier monuments. Still standing in the park today are the Muhlenberg Bridage Huts, which Washington's men built in order to stave off the harsh winter. In the summer months, they're staffed with historical interpreters, who are there to help guests get a feel for daily life in the Valley Forge camps.

The town is also located in the suburbs of another city drenched in history: Philadelphia. Take the 20-mile drive the historic Center City neighborhood to visit Independence Hall—birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution—or see the approximately 2,000-pound bell at the Liberty Bell Center.

Solid hotel stay We had a lovely stay at the Alloy. Huge property with many meeting rooms and plenty of parking. The lobby area was spacious with a seating area, bar, snack bar, Starbucks. Check in was seamless (cookies!) and service/food in the restaurant and room service was excellent. Room was large with complementary water bottles. Shower was lovely! We were there for a pageant and the accommodations for the event were great. My only complaint was our thermostat wasn't working correctly. Couldn't get the AC to a comfortable temp so it was stuffy in our room. I would return again. I have stayed in many hotels in the KOP area and this was my favorite so far.

“Premium” Parking and The Alloy Although it advertises free parking, The Alloy has contracted with a third party parking rip off company to usurp convenient parking places near the hotel, pushing hotel customers to less desirable parking, which is free. Parking, even free parking, can be difficult if there is an event and there is a condo like building on the campus that further reduces relatively convenient parking. On parking later in night after we went out to dinner there were no good options so we parked in the advertised $10 premium parking and, surprise, it was $11.50 with an unannounced $1.50 service charge. The night we tried the website for the parking company was unresponsive so not took us and the hotel people 4+ log ins to try to get a response. An extra 25 minutes when we wanted to go upstairs to bed. We were annoyed by the situation and will not stay at this hotel ever again on visits to the area to see family. Will seek a more transparent alternative.

Not our favorite stay This was not quite the luxurious stay we hoped to have. We were here for our wedding reception, and were getting ready here with the bride, groom, and maid of honor. They kindly offered us drink vouchers to celebrate, and then still charged us in full. We only had half a roll of toilet paper to start, and when we ran out we had to call to the desk twice and wait over two hours to get it. We called and asked for a tall chair for hair and makeup, and it never came. Our sheets were stained and housekeeping never came. Children began running up and down the hall at 8 am banging on doors and yelling. Not a great stay.
