Laughlin, Nevada: Sunny Gaming Destination near the Hoover Dam

Laughlin is about 100 miles south of Las Vegas, but it’s a gaming destination in its own right. At the city’s nine casinos, there are plenty of slots and poker tables, and bingo is big here. You can find regular bingo games at the Riverside and the River Palms.

Laughlin averages 300 sunny days a year—a fine climate for exploring natural and manmade wonders. To get in touch with nature, hit up Big Bend State Recreation Area to go hiking along the Colorado River. For a manmade spectacle, head about 80 miles north to Boulder City to see the famous Hoover Dam, which sends thousands of gallons of water tumbling 70 stories into Black Canyon every day. Though its sheer size is captivating, you’ll also appreciate the dam’s surprisingly elegant art-deco design.

Lets be honest, this is not going to be a 5 star hotel experience. This hotel keeps getting booked because of the location, casino within it, and convenience. The rooms need major updating, it feels like you're traveling back in time to 2002. The bathrooms especially, with the stained tubs. The hotel room hallways too are very creepy old school vibes. I also think this place is overpriced for the quality of room/hotel you're getting. But you're in Laughlin and the options are not many to be by the lake. So keep all of those things in mind. The hotel staff is actually really helpful though when checking in! So that makes up for the lack of updates with everything within the hotel room space.

Only giving it a 3 due to not having room service the next day, for my two night stay. I had called front desk my first night for shower and coffee supplies, yet they forgot coffee pods. Called the front desk, next morning for the coffee pods once again, yet they did not deliver before my check out. I let the front desk know about my stay, they gave me free water that the servers do anyway.

Stayed April 23-25, 2022. WOULD NOT STAY AGAIN. This is NOT a LUXURY accommodation!! Room dusty with outdated furniture, rough dingy white towels, rough toilet tissue, and facial tissues, no housekeeping offered, thin walls, NOISY all night long, and online room images misleading. No ability to adjust the thermostat and the room was freezing, however, when finally able to get through to front desk the problem was solved. Apparently, the entire unit was turned off so the friendly and pleasant service person removed the ceiling panel in the bathroom and turned the unit on. After check-in, we had to take the elevator from our 8th floor rooms TWICE since room keys inoperable each time. The Cafe Aquarius servers: Tyler, Charlene and Gayle's warm, friendly and excellent service made up for the lack in other areas of our stay. The 7 layer chocolate cake has consistency of cornbread and is 7 layers only if you count the icing between the actual layers, the chicken noodle soup was more onions than chicken or noodles and the Fruit platter is actualy a Fruit plate size.

The property was clean, the restaurants were great, the check in/out process was all digital! All in all, it was great to be back.
