Beyond the Las Vegas Strip: Old Vegas and Red Rock Canyon

It can feel like the entire city of Las Vegas revolves around the Strip if you never venture beyond that neon-lit corridor. But there’s plenty to see and do once you step off Las Vegas Boulevard. You can find a taste of Old Vegas on Fremont Street, where vintage signs and showgirls crowned with headdresses recall the days of Sinatra and Martin. Beginning at dusk, a canopy of more than 12 million LED lights erupts in a psychedelic light-and-music show every hour. For an aerial view, zoom down the center of Fremont Street on a zipline.

Nature puts on its own show at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, a landscape of fiery-red sandstone formations and limestone cliffs just 17 miles outside the city. Motor down the 13-mile scenic drive or ditch the car and strike out on any of more than 20 hiking trails that course through the region’s otherworldly topography.

Dump Rooms are just ok. I was on a winning streak and the slot attendant came and made some BS excuse why he had to put his card in my machine and it never hit another bonus?? The people taking orders at the food counter screwed up our order. Twice. Won’t be back

Bad service in casino Our experience since we check in front desk it’s not friendly, she need to welcome guest , casino too much smoke , supervisor didn’t help me to get my cash money from the machine, I play $20 I lost around $6 but still have left money I forgot to cash it out my fault , they should refund me or check the video so they know were I played the machine. Lucky who ever cashing out my left money, thanks to Filipina lady who helped I will give her good 100% customer and promote her to be supervisor. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I stayed at Arizona Charlie’s Decatur on Oct 7-9 2025. At check in I specifically requested maid service, they said no problem.. After check in I saw the room did not have a safe. I called the front desk and was basically told “What do you expect at a property like this”. After the 1st night, I saw a maid across the hall and reminded her I am requesting maid service. I left for the day and returned around 9 pm to find no maid service performed. When I called the front desk, they said we will send up some towels. No apology. I went to the front desk and was told no Mgr on duty. I was also told to come back in the morning and speak with a manager. The next morning , I went to the front desk and was told, no maid service on the 1 st night. I explained that I requested it 2 times. They said nothing we can do. ( I asked for a partial credit for the inconvenience, they acted like they could not care less ) I also requested a Manager from the hotel call me to discuss this. No call. I complained on their website and requested a Mgr call. No call. This hotel does not seem to care at all about both its customers and reputation. I highly recommend not staying here, EVER!
