Hotel at a Glance: Artisan Hotel Boutique

Just half a mile from the Strip, this adults-only boutique hotel feels a world away from the casino-centric and family-oriented resorts that Las Vegas is known for. For one, there’s the outdoor pool, where swimsuit tops are optional. The pool parties here feature hi-fi beats and shimmering lights, plus private cabanas and daybeds where you can take in the scene. From Friday to Sunday morning, the party doesn’t stop: the hotel’s award-winning Artisan Lounge stays open all weekend, with live DJs who keep the vibe turned up.

  • Upon arrival: Leave your car with the complimentary valet and enter the stylish, art-filled lobby.
  • Get in vacation mode: This Getaway includes a bottle of champagne.
  • Spend the night in an Artisan classic room adorned with contemporary artwork. No two are alike.
  • In-room amenities include free WiFi, premium cable, and an iPod docking station.

Beyond the Las Vegas Strip: Old Vegas, Red Rock Canyon, and the Hoover Dam

It can feel like the entire city of Las Vegas revolves around the Strip if you never venture beyond that neon-lit corridor. But there’s plenty to see and do once you step off Las Vegas Boulevard. You can find a taste of Old Vegas on Fremont Street, where vintage signs and showgirls crowned with headdresses recall the days of Sinatra and Martin. Beginning at dusk, a canopy of more than 12 million LED lights erupts in a psychedelic light-and-music show every hour. For an aerial view, zoom down the center of Fremont Street on a zipline.

Nature puts on its own show at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, a landscape of fiery-red sandstone formations and limestone cliffs just 17 miles outside the city. Motor down the 13-mile scenic drive or ditch the car and strike out on any of more than 20 hiking trails that course through the region’s otherworldly topography.

Hoover Dam, a marvel of modern engineering, lies just 35 miles away, near the Nevada–Arizona border. Take the 30-minute power-plant tour or the 60-minute dam tour, which takes visitors inside the dam’s narrow passageways. You can actually kayak down the Colorado River from the base of the dam—just be sure to arrive early, as only 30 permits are issued per day.

Terrible, Trashy, Avoid at all costs This was by far the most horrific hotel experience I have ever had. The customer service was absolutely atrocious, and the conditions were beyond unacceptable. The elevated rooms, which were advertised as luxurious with in-room air purifiers for cannabis use, were a complete scam. Instead, they turned out to be nothing more than dirty, outdated smoking rooms that reeked of cigarette odor, leaving my clothes, hair, and body smelling disgusting. The so-called air purifier looked like it was from the 1980s and didn’t even work. To make matters worse, we were greeted with a dirty towel on the floor and no hot water in the shower after a long day of travel. The app for ordering room service didn’t function, and the menu items looked unappetizing online with ridiculously high prices. When I went to the front desk to complain, they refused to refund my stay or offer any meaningful compensation. Instead, they moved me to another “smoking room,” which was just as disgusting—complete with a dirty bandage on the floor, a dirty ashtray, and a broken heater that fell to the ground when I tried to adjust it. At 1 AM, the front desk offered to send a technician, but I was too exhausted to deal with it by that point. The lack of care, cleanliness, and basic functionality at this hotel is staggering. The staff showed no remorse, offered no compensation, and provided an experience that was utterly intolerable. Avoid this place at all costs—do NOT stay here under any circumstances. It’s a complete nightmare.

Great Experience Zero issues with the place. Based on the reviews I wasn’t expecting much. Exceeded my expectations. Would definitely stay again. I’m coming back in March of next year and will be staying there. Off the strip but who cares. Just Uber to The Lexi. Couple miles off the strip.

Hell hole. Run for your life. You’d be better off booking a motel 6. A horrid experience. This is not a real hotel, and it has no decent amenities. First of all, it’s super confusing. The “420 friendly rooms” are only a portion of the rooms, one of the floors isn’t 420 friendly. This information is misleading and not posted anywhere when you book a room. They’re called “elevator rooms”— how on earth is any customer supposed to know what that means? It’s bad. Second, they had nothing. Can we check out an hour later than usual? No. Can we have extra pillows, there aren’t enough in our room? No. Can we use any amenities like the pool or restaurant? No. Can we have coffee that isn’t decaf, we don’t drink decaf? No. Can we have a screen on our window to not let bugs into the room? No. Since all this place is is a bed, are the beds at least comfortable? No. I couldn’t sleep a wink. Every single request of this place was a no. It was soooo disappointing. It’s in a horrible location and it has zero redeeming qualities. I’d avoid this place like the plague.
