Atlantic City, New Jersey: Casinos and Carnival Rides Lining Historical Beachside Boardwalk

No trip to Atlantic City is complete without a stroll along its signature boardwalk, which stretches for 6 miles along New Jersey's eastern coast. Originally built in 1870 to keep sand out of hotel lobbies, the boardwalk grew in popularity as a place where you could drink and gamble during Prohibition without much trouble from the police, as depicted in HBO's Boardwalk Empire. The boardwalk is still popular for its casinos, but it's family-friendly, too; visitors are just as inclined to sit at the beach or stop at one of the many carnival rides.

On the boardwalk, it's worth it to check out the Absecon Lighthouse, which is more than 150 years old. It's possible to climb its 228 steps to the top, which features sweeping views of the city skyline and the sea.

Disgusting stay at Ballys. Stayed at tower June 1-4. No maid service entire stay. No fresh towels or clean sheets. Mold on lamps and in bathroom. Employees extremely rude. This was a horrible birthday gift from my kids.

DENNIS TOWERS AT BALLY'S IS THE WORST So I was booked into the Dennis Towers walked into the room and was disappointed. Started cleaning the room and pulled layers of the bed back with stains on the sheets and then found a dirty towel on the bed. I called the front desk they said pack up and come down. Gets downstairs and spoke to Arron "the manager". My Husband asked did he want to see pictures, he was so unbothered, unapologetic and emotionless and was like ok. My Husband also asked how much to upgrade, he was like another $150. I said we not upgrading nothing. Aaron finally upgraded us to the Bally's Tower free of charge. DENNIS TOWERS ARE THE WORST. NEVER AGAIN!!

Disappointing Stay – Unfulfilled Expectations at Bally’s Atlantic City I recently stayed at Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City for Memorial Weekend 2025, anticipating an enjoyable visit for the unofficial kick-off to summer. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Many of the eateries within the casino, including Jerry Longo’s, Park Place Prime, Macau Kitchen, VIP Lounge, The Beach Bar, and The Yard were closed. Additionally, the swimming pool and fitness center were locked up, leaving very few amenities available. The most frustrating aspect of my stay was the complete lack of housekeeping during our four night stay. After checking in on Sunday, our room remained unattended until Wednesday, when we approached the front desk to inquire. We were informed that no housekeeping services were provided. We eventually managed to find a room attendant to obtain towels and toilet paper, and even had to vacuum our own room using the attendant’s equipment. Despite these failures, Bally’s still charged resort fees, claiming no intention to waive them. Given the lack of service and amenities, this was unacceptable. During my visit, I explored several other casinos along the boardwalk, and their accommodations and services were far superior. As a result, I will not be returning to Bally’s in Atlantic City. I strongly urge management to reconsider their approach to guest service to maintain their reputation. We submitted a letter of dissatisfaction to the guest service manager at Bally’s in Atlantic City and received a reply only from the director of food and beverage services. They apologized and told us if we return in July, the restaurants, pool and spa will be available. No mention of no housekeeping, no pool, no fitness room. There was no mention addressing housekeeping and no mention of refunding out resort fees. Unfortunately for Bally’s Atlantic City, they will be unable to win us back as a customer in their so called “Resort”.
