North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: Sandy Beaches, Fresh Seafood, and Classic Amusement-Park Rides

North Myrtle Beach is at the tip of South Carolina’s Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of white, sandy beaches along the Atlantic seaboard that draws surfers, fishers, and kayakers. The town’s Cherry Grove Pier bustles with activity during the fishing season, and you can rent a rod nearby to take your place alongside veteran anglers. Nearby restaurants serve up fresh, cooked-to-order seafood including crab and shrimp.

About a half-hour southwest of North Myrtle Beach is Myrtle Beach proper, which USA Today named one of the best family vacation spots in the United States. That was in part because of its wooden boardwalk, which stretches for more than 1 mile and buzzes with carnival games and amusement-park rides. Hop into one of the SkyWheel’s glass-floored gondolas, surrounded by more than a million LED lights, for a panoramic view of the city.

Extremely disappointing condo in Myrtle Beach . Very disappointed . This condo is two bedroom . But one of the bedrooms is so small , they shouldn’t count as bedroom . We stayed in that room . We kept hitting our legs in corner of bed . The bed was extremely soft , where you would sink in . And it was so warm in this room even with air cooling in the rest of condo . No where to store all of our clothes . The bathroom off of our bedroom , had no where to store things . No shelves . And we were given the worst towels ever . Crunchy and hard . The other bedroom was large . But our friends discovered a few bugs in there . And their bed was even worse . Same crunchy hard towels were in there ! The TV in living room gave us problems all week ! The high points of this condo was the beautiful kitchen . Seems they put all their money into that . The location with the balcony was great along the intercostal . Great to sit out there . Would we stay here again ? Definitely not .

Golf Trip This is our 2nd year staying on Barefoot Resort property for annual golf trip. Last year we stayed in the condo/apartments. The downside was the accommodations were a bit spread apart with our 14 guy group. Made it tough to have to drive back and forth to hang out and some of the beds were twin size which wasn't the greatest for us taller guys. Anyway we decided to upgrade this year to the Yacht Club. Bigger space, bigger beds. The reviews had me a little concerned. Upon arrival all the concern evaporated. We got two 3 bedrooms and one 4 BR unit. The units were clean and well stocked. Great view over the Marina and there were multiple balconies off of 2-3 rooms at each unit. The furnishings were very comfortable. The only complaint was from just one who said the mattress was uncomfortable as it sunk in middle. That was the only complaint from 14 guys!!!! Oh for me a minor thing was not having a dresser in my room. We stayed 6 days and I had to dress out of suitcase. All other rooms had dressers. (2-405) No biggie. Just so you know we stayed in building 2. Units 2-504, 2-405,2-705. Can't go wrong with these units. Will be re-booking on Monday.

Golfers stay away. It's a dump! We traveled to Myrtle Beach for a golf trip from 22-29 April 2023.. Our accommodations were with Barefoot vacations. One group stayed in Cypress Bend and the other in Havens. On arrival, we were told to wait while our condo units were being cleaned... Here's what we found! Soiled unwashed towels hanging behind doors,  dirty cutlery and dishes, soiled bed linens (pubic hairs and biological staining), broken chairs, no light bulbs, no patio door security, leaking dishwasher, pink mold, black mold, explosive diarrhea on the underside of toilet seats, dirty furnace filters and on and on. Deplorable conditions! Despite emails, phone calls from me, our Golfmasters convenor and the Director of Golf Operations at Barefoot, no one has responded. How is it possible that a company can market condos and yet be unaccountable. Their communication strategy is called "ghosting". Unfortunately, the Barefoot golf community is stained by the total lack of accountability in managing accommodations by this business. If a golf trip is your plan, stay far away from accommodations booked via Barefoot Vacations.
