Solo business trip turned future escape getaway I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Berkshires Untold. I found the decor sophisticated and the staff very pleasant and helpful. I was traveling through for business and found that this would be the place I would soon bring my wife to escape and relax for the week. I found their bar perfect for what I was looking for, a quaint and cozy space to enjoy a meal with friendly service. Nick and Aurora were amazing. This property is a hidden gem in the area, much better than any of the chain hotels.

Stay here to immerse yourself in mountain-chic elegance where woodsy comfort meets cultured calm: Each moment, from breakfast to cocktails by the fire, whispers a celebration of Berkshires heritage!

Lenox, MA: A Storied Sanctuary in the Berkshires

Nestled in the rolling hills of western Massachusetts, Lenox is a cultural haven with deep historical roots and enduring charm. Once a summer retreat for America’s Gilded Age elite, this picturesque town in the Berkshires still echoes with the grandeur of a bygone era. Its streets are lined with stately mansions, many transformed into museums, inns, or galleries, reflecting the town’s prestigious past. Central to Lenox’s legacy is The Mount, the elegant estate of author Edith Wharton, a National Historic Landmark that encapsulates the literary and architectural refinement of the early 20th century. Visitors are drawn not only to Lenox’s architecture and heritage but also to its spirit—a place where art, intellect, and nature have long been entwined.

Beyond its illustrious past, Lenox remains a vibrant epicenter of culture and performance. Each summer, the town hosts the famed Tanglewood Music Festival, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, where music resonates beneath open skies and among the wooded hills. The surrounding Berkshire landscape—dotted with conservation trails, scenic overlooks, and tranquil lakes—invites outdoor enthusiasts to explore its timeless beauty. From the refined ambience of its historic downtown to the artistic energy that pulses through its festivals and institutions, Lenox exemplifies a rare blend of natural splendor and cultivated tradition that continues to inspire all who visit.

Interesting Spot, Nice Lobby, Poor Beds We just had a quick couples trip to the area for hiking and exploring and stayed at Berkshires Untold. It recently rebranded as part of Mr and Mrs Smith and can be booked under the Hyatt brand (including with points). One really odd this is they also sell their rooms on Airbnb (for cheaper than the actual hotel website). Lobby is neat and well done. Complementary (nice and strong) coffee was available as well!Staff was very friendly and courteous. Rooms were totally fine and clean. Minimalistic, but did the trick. Our biggest complaint by far was the bed. It was horrible. Old, soft, with large deep sags in the middle. With a quality bed would have been a 5 stars for us. If you’re expecting a luxury property, this isn’t for you. If you want something unique in a renovated, modern, and clean roadside motel, give it a shot! I do think it’s silly they sell rooms on Airbnb. And man, those beds were rough.

Nice lobby in a Glorified Motel 6 This is essentially a glorified Motel 6 with a very nice lobby, bar area and outdoor seating area and a fire pit. Aside from the lobby, the rest o the building feels like a cheap hotel with a fresh coat of paint. The rooms are very small with only one window which you must keep the shade down or anyone walking by can easily look inside. So you are in a small, dark room with no natural light. The bathroom is ok in size, and appointed decently. Guests should be aware that the hotel will not let you use the nice outdoor space alongside the restaurant if you so much as bring your own can of soda with you, let alone any food. While this did not affect us directly, we found it extremely off-putting as we witnessed an employee tell two different sets of guests to eat in their rooms (for which is there no place to sit down and eat),After seeing this, we decided we would never come to this hotel again. The staff was otherwise quite friendly though this was a real turn off. Also, as noted in other reviews, the AC unit is very loud and will annoy some people.

Great value, beautiful accommodations Very nice renovated hotel. The lobby and bar area are very nice. Quiet area, especially if your room faces the back parking lot. Close to Kripalu. Good value for the money. Rooms are also renovated, nice and modern. Comfy beds and black out curtains. Modern and spacious bathroom. Desk area

A reliable and comfortable stay Comfortable rooms, easy check in, and an excellent menu at the bar/lobby space. Not to be dramatic but it might be the best food in the region. I’ve stayed here maybe 10+ times usually for 1 or 2 nights and it’s very good each time. Great bed, nice big bathroom, and friendly staff. My only complaint is the heating/cooling unit in the room which is a bit loud.
