There was so much room for the four of us. We never felt clustered and it was very roomy.

Mixed experience — units and upkeep need attention I stayed at Black Bear Lodge during a hockey weekend in Waterville Valley and unfortunately our experience was a bit disappointing. I was actually in Waterville Valley two weekends in a row and stayed at a different nearby lodge the following weekend, which made the differences in overall upkeep pretty noticeable. I understand the units here are individually owned and conditions can vary, but our room felt quite worn and in need of updates. We ran into several maintenance issues, including aging or broken fixtures, worn curtains, and a shower that wasn’t in great condition. A few other parents in our group mentioned similar concerns with their rooms as well. Some of the smaller details also stood out. The lobby fireplace was inoperable, which made the common area feel less inviting during the winter, and the parking lot was covered in snow, making unloading gear and getting around a bit difficult. During my stay the following weekend at another lodge nearby, the common areas felt more welcoming and the parking lot was fully cleared, so the difference in day-to-day maintenance was noticeable. There was also no daily room service or refresh during the stay, which can be challenging during a busy tournament weekend with families. The location is convenient and the condo-style setup has potential, but overall the condition and consistency of maintenance didn’t meet expectations. With some updates and more attention to upkeep, this property could be a much stronger option for visiting families and teams.

Five Stars Isn’t Enough! My family and I stayed at the Black Bear Lodge for a week for a snowboard competition, and I have never felt more at home. From the moment you drive up, there is something about this lodge that just screams family. The front desk team welcomed us with open arms and made us feel right at home. Hunter was incredibly accommodating and went the extra mile for us. Brandon was so kind and always willing to help with a smile. I truly cannot rave enough about Don, the front desk manager. She is one of the loveliest ladies I have ever met! We enjoyed morning coffee in the lodge and spent time chatting and getting to know each other. She made our stay unforgettable. The whole team ensures your stay is exactly what you need and want. They offer ski storage and an awesome indoor/outdoor pool that my son absolutely loved. Our unit was clean, comfortable, and perfect for a week-long stay. A huge shoutout to the Black Bear Lodge! This will be our spot for many years to come.

Perfect Lodging for our Wedding Guests We booked a block of rooms for our wedding guests at the Black Bear Lodge for a September wedding. The Front Desk crew, Dawn, Branden & Hunter were very friendly & attentive to all our needs during this process right up through guest check-ins. The suite style rooms were clean, spacious & comfortable with a full kitchen. They offer coffee every morning in the Lobby and the location is a short walk to the Town Square that has a coffee shop, restaurants & small local shops. They have an indoor/ outdoor pool and you can also use the Freedom Pass and enjoy Waterville Valley's amenities. I will definitely be back! Highly recommend!
