Bothell, Washington: Antique Shops and Wine Bars, only 30 Minutes from Seattle
Despite Bothell’s modest size, there’s a lot to do in town, from tastings at boutique wineries to shows at the performing arts center. One of its biggest draws is the antiquing scene. At Ye Olde Whitehouse Antique and Candy Shoppe in the Country Village complex, you can scour three stories’ worth of vintage furnishings and decor. Make sure to pick up some homemade chocolates on your way out. In the same shopping complex you’ll find old-timey cafes and craft stores offering lessons in beading, stationery design, and folk music.
About 80 wineries dot the hills of Woodinville Wine Country, which begins just outside of downtown Bothell. You can sample the region’s lush merlot and syrah blends in tasting rooms and learn about the history of Washington winemaking. A handful of craft distilleries and breweries have also arrived in recent years, including the popular Red Hook Brewery.
