Hotel at a Glance: Camelot by the Sea by Oceana Resorts

Camelot by the Sea by Oceana Resorts is set right along the oceanfront, about a 10-minute walk from Myrtle Beach’s classic wooden boardwalk and the flashy SkyWheel Ferris wheel. Guests of all ages can explore the city’s nearby attractions or enjoy the resort’s own family-friendly offerings—chief among them is a 200-foot-long indoor lazy river. Other aquatic amenities include indoor and outdoor pools for year-round swimming, and a hot tub that seats up to 16 people.

  • An oceanfront studio or one-bedroom suite: Each has a spacious kitchen and a balcony.
  • Kid-friendly accommodations: Up to four children can stay for free.
  • The onsite Dunkin’ Donuts gives families a spot to fuel up on sprinkled donuts and coffee before they hit the boardwalk.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina: Sandy Beaches, Golf Courses, and Classic Amusement-Park Rides

Myrtle Beach is the crown jewel of South Carolina’s Grand Strand, a 60-mile stretch of white-sand beaches along the Atlantic seaboard that draws surfers, fishers, and kayakers. The city was named one of the best vacation spots in the United States for a family by USA Today, in part because of its wooden boardwalk, which stretches for more than a mile and buzzes with carnival games and amusement-park rides. Hop into the SkyWheel Ferris wheel’s gondolas, surrounded by more than a million LED lights, for a panoramic view of the city below.

Less than 20 miles south of Myrtle Beach, the tiny fishing village of Murrells Inlet provides a tranquil contrast to the boardwalk’s hustle and bustle. At Brookgreen Gardens, more than 2,000 sculptures stand amid sprawling floral gardens and massive, moss-covered oak trees that have been around for centuries. Murrells Inlet is also home to the Tom Fazio–designed TPC Myrtle Beach golf course, 1 of nearly 100 courses in the area that helped Myrtle Beach earn its title as the seaside golf capital of the world.

Resort in Myrtle beach Resort has 5 pools and direct access to the beach which is nice . Pools could be cleaned better as there are tons of people and only one cleaning a day for pools. They weren’t the cleanest . Elevators could use some updating . A game room for kids would have been nice walls are thin so you can hear neighbors . Bedroom is located on hallway side of unit so hear everyone passing by . Okay resort not the nicest or the worst .

Roaches!!!! Big Roaches!!! Pros: on the beach, walking distance from pier 14 and all of the restaurants close to pier, ocean view, parking Cons: really big roaches all around the pool and the balcony, misty carpet in room, room key stopped working every 2 days Interesting setup with room doors in the parking garage.

Overall pros/cons We stayed for 6 nights with 50 people. Every unit was different so look carefully at what you get. Pros: - great location - room 314 was updated and comfortable beds - Easy beach access - nice staff - easy check in/out - no hidden fees - elevators worked whole time - always parking spots - common laundry if needed - lots of outdoor seating - great fridge/microwave and stove Cons: - pools were GROSS and always full- so we only used beach - room was musty - can be loud when next to parking garage - pool gates locked at 11 so have to walk around or jump the fence _ - broke one of our souvenir glasses at 11pm and could not get ahold of anyone to borrow a vacuum. We had glass everywhere!! - kitchen stuff was limited. We just used paper plates - no dishwasher - no shower curtain liner just outside Tips- - just ask for new towels at front desk as needed - you can request a room cleaning once during your stay if needed - take your own toiletries
