Texas Hill Country: Pastoral Landscape of Ranches and Rivers

A picturesque region of rolling hills and valleys covered in bluebonnets in spring, the area of central Texas known as Texas Hill Country has been compared to the landscape of Tuscany by the New York Times. Texas Hill Country is a backyard playground for nearby cities, as it lies just west of Austin and northwest of San Antonio. Urbanites often escape here for the weekend to enjoy the slower pace and beat the heat—the region's slightly higher elevation means it's often less humid. With many state parks and spring-fed rivers, the Hill Country is also a haven for outdoorsy types; activities range from fishing and tubing to rock climbing. The Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is popular thanks to its main attraction: a gigantic pink-granite dome in the middle of the park.

Nice...but not the best... Villas are too close to Highway 281, and traffic is noisy, so bring earplugs. The villa was very nice and comfortable, but the shower had minimal water pressure, so it wasn't great. The restaurant was very nice. The food was delicious, and our server, David, was exceptional.

Great stay! The entire facility is beautiful and enjoyable! We will definitely be coming back! The staff is friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and clean. We did not get a chance to try the winery or brewery. Breakfast was great though. Will try next time.

Beautiful Hill Country Get Away Love this place for its villas, pet friendly atmosphere, amenities such as entertainment and food and wine. Very nice place to stay--tranquil and friendly staff. Like the way the villas are laid out with their own living room, and the hot tub is awesome, too.

Our 27th anniversary stay Great individual villas, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The resort was clean, super quiet, and the rooms were well appointed. Unfortunately we didn't get to participate in the Winery tour or Bourbon or tasting, but we will the next time!

great location, accommodation, onsite restaurant and wine and beer tasting We liked the location of the resort to wineries and restaurants both toward Johnson City and toward Stonewall / Fredericksburg. We enjoyed the ability to walk to the Carter Creek Wine tasting and Beer tasting as well as the restaurant from the location of our villa. We had a 3 day package which included 2 free tastings at the winery and brewery. The on site restaurant had excellent food and service and was very affordable. The Villa was spacious with separate bedroom, anteroom, and bathroom. There was a patio with table and chairs. There are 2 flat screen TVs and a K-cup machine in the room. There are 2 wine glasses and a wine bottle opener in the room. Our room was convenient to the parking area but oddly we had to cross through the landscaping bed to get to the walkway to the villa (it was a little difficult for moving luggage and cases of wine). Some villas are quite a distance from the parking areas. The office was very accommodating when we arrived early and for putting our freezer packs in their freezer (as there is no freezer compartment in the villa minifridge). There is coffee available in the office area as well.
