Poor First-time visiting Catalonia-Bayahibe resort and last time I was very disappointed when I arrived to the resort the room I got was very outdated and you can smell mold in the room I was like okay I deal with it when I went back to the room in the night time it had flying bugs and warms all over the bed and in the night tables. I go to the front desk ask for the manager I requested change of room they changed to another old and outdated room not what they showed on their online page. The manager asked me if I did my reservation in other words I guess yo her I did not looked capable of doing my own reservation I requested for another room I got a suite but the lamps on the suites were not working as well. Therefore, no lights in the suite room. I felt discriminated the resort personal only pay attention if you were an outside tourist and if you were a privileged or VIP customer of the resort only I'm from New York and my sister who lives in the Dominican Republic we were treated like we were from another planet. The food is horrible the personnel in all area horrible except the ladies from the spa were polite I am giving a 10 to the pool and the beach excellent excellent and the layout of the resort. Otherwise 1 for the resort and all their personal. They need to update their etique how to treat people the correct way.

First time resort vistor As first time vistors to a resort I wanted to share my thoughts with other potential first time visitors We chose Bayahibe as we had read that the water in Punta Cana could sometimes be disappointing and it seemed that that was not the case at Bayahibe. I was pleased to discover that we made the right choice, the beach was immaculate, water was a dream. Calm, blue, not cold and not warm ..it was perfect. When it comes to the beach itself i cannot fault it at all. I do want to preface this review by explaining that we are generally adventure travelers and chose a 3 day stay at a resort as we had just finished the inca trail and thought it would be a great idea to spend some days relaxing. We arrived late in the evening and were starving after a full day of travel, we were disspointed that we got no explanation about how things work ( i assume most of their guests are regular resort visitors) I had to ask several questions to clarify where we could eat what was included etc We eventually made our way to one of the restaurants, the french one, first thing i noticed is that as everything is paid for already the customer service is not as good. we had no idea what we were ordering and the food we did order was below average. the room was fine, pretty average one thing that stood out was the amount of people that were there. I imagine that is what a cruise is like, except you cant escape. after 1 full day lounging by the beach we had enough but luckily had a tour booked the following day. after our first night we went in Bayahibe village for dinner every night and found amazing restaurants that offered typical Dominican food. So i definitely recommend doing this I do want to credit the front desk staff who helped us with taxis into bayahibe every evening and were always so polite. If you are considering a first time visit to a resort and normally travel differently i suggest 1-2 nights max.

Poor customer service I just checked out of this resort. My overall experience was ruined at lunch on the way out. My daughter and friend when to Taino buffet ahead of me and asked for a table for three. They still sat them at a table for two. They assumed they would just pull the table next theirs when I got there. However, when I got there I was told that other table was reserved. They sat me away from the girls at a bad table and no attempt was made to accommodate us together. I said something and nobody did anything to resolve it. My experience there was ruined. Due better by all guests, i paid for a privilege experience and did not get it. I should have been accommodated. Whomever, you held the table for never showed.
