Contemporary Hotel Next to Sebring International Raceway
The Sebring International Raceway is one of the oldest continuously operating racetracks in the country. It dates back to the 1950s, when it was converted from a World War II airbase. Each day of the year, you can see sports cars racing around the track—and if you’re a guest of the Chateau Elan Hotel & Conference Center, you can do it while lounging beside the pool. The hotel sits right beside the track, which is also visible from many of the guestrooms.
If racing isn’t your cup of tea, you’ll still find plenty to do in the area. It’s well known for its golf courses and fishing in Lake Jackson. At the hotel, you can spend a relaxing day at the spa, which offers a full range of treatments such as Swedish massages and a seaweed and salt glow exfoliation. The onsite Esperante Restaurant serves upscale entrees in a casual atmosphere. Offerings include mahi mahi and pan-seared red snapper topped with crab. After dinner, make your way to the Hairpin Lounge to unwind with a cocktail.
Sebring, Florida: Championship Golf Courses and National Parks
Sebring is located in central Florida, along the shores of Lake Jackson. True to city planner George Sebring's vision, the town is a warm, inviting place, where families gather to go fishing and boating on the lake. The area is a popular destination for golfers, thanks to its year-round sunny weather and the many championship courses in town. At a nearby high-yield mining flume, you can sift through buckets of silt for rubies and amethyst, and a nostalgic diner serves chocolate malts.
Highlands Hammock State Park, one of the oldest parks in Florida, is another nearby attraction. Here, an elevated boardwalk passes through an old-growth cypress swamp, providing visitors with a glimpse of the undeveloped scenery that prevailed in the days before Florida was conquered by Mickey Mouse.
