The Las Vegas Strip: 24/7 Entertainment and Fine Dining

With an almost unlimited variety of casinos, bars and nightclubs, and live entertainment, the general consensus along the Las Vegas Strip seems to be “go big or go home.” And you can go really big here. Make a beeline for the dozens of 24-hour casinos lining the neon-lit Strip to tango with Lady Luck in high-stakes games of roulette, blackjack, and poker; or grab a front-row seat to the city’s over-the-top glitz at nightly magic, acrobatic, and musical performances. Be sure to stick around for mealtimes—casinos on the Strip are known for their fine-dining restaurants and extravagant buffets overflowing with crab legs and prime rib.

Even Sin City isn’t all casinos, all the time. Go shopping at the high-end boutiques found inside most hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, or head to Fashion Show Las Vegas to browse racks at Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue. You can also virtually travel the globe in just a few city blocks, thanks to the Strip’s re-creation of the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, and Venetian canals.

Best on Fremont Street, But Doesn't Compare to Best on the Strip My husband and I just returned from our first trip to Las Vegas and we made every effort to see and do as much as possible while we were there. This included two nights at the Bellagio, two nights at the Wynn, one night at a cabin at the Grand Canyon and our last night at Circa downtown to experience Fremont Street. With that being said, Fremont Street was just not for us, but I will not let that affect my review of Circa. We had a rental car and arrived to Garage Mahal just before 3pm on a Friday. There was ample parking available. There was also extremely loud music playing from what we thought was someone's vehicle, but turned out to be coming from the hotel itself. The atmosphere upon entering the hotel was just as loud. The casino at each hotel we had stayed at had music playing, but the volume level at Circa is on a whole different level. Like Fremont Street itself, Circa seems to be geared more towards a party crowd. There was no line at check-in and despite us being a little early, a room was available for us. The check-in agent asked if we had a room preference and I told her that we were fine anywhere, but would prefer a quieter room, so she indicated she would not put us on the pool side of the building. Like the other hotels we had stayed at in Vegas, this one seemed to be trying to be "smart" but unlike the other rooms we had stayed in, there was no signage or clear indication as to how we could use the smart devices or switches to control the different aspects of the room. I actually never did figure out how to just leave some, but not all the lights, on or off, or how to control the bedside lamps. There was also a floor lamp with an odd plug (almost like an aux cable) that had a matching outlet on the wall, but we discovered at the end of our stay was never plugged in. I question if the bedside lamps were the same? The bathroom had dual sinks and the mirrors over each had a light ring around them with a switch to turn them on, but neither worked. I know I'm being nitpicky, but the wastebasket in the bathroom is located behind the toilet, which is a distance from the vanities and inconvenient. There was a mini bar of facial soap at each vanity, as well as a small tube of lotion. Shampoo, conditioner and bodywash were in wall dispensers in the shower. There were two mini bottles of water in the room's mini fridge and nothing else. As with other Vegas rooms we encountered, there was no microwave or coffeemaker, but the empty mini fridge could certainly be nice if you want to bring your own drinks. Our view out the window was of the street and beyond that the highway, with city lights in the background. It wasn't anything special, but our room was quiet and that was most important to us. The casino is two floors and aside from signing up for Club One cards, we primarily stayed on the second floor, as we only play slots and the first floor has tables and is busier and louder than the first. We got dinner at Victory Burger and the food was good with big portions. You order at the counter, take a number plaque, seat yourself and they bring your food to your table when it's ready. Soda is self-serve. We looked at Saginaw's, which appears to be the same kind of set up, and we got breakfast sandwiches and coffees from Jack Pots in the morning. I asked if I could get an egg and cheese on a croissant instead of a roll and was told that wasn't possible as the sandwiches are prepared in advance and just heated up when ordered. I do wish there were other dining options in Circa (aside from Barry's) where you could sit down and be waited on, as opposed to the counter service options they have. Despite the party vibe in Circa, it is significantly less wild than Fremont Street and after discovering that Fremont Street really wasn't for me, I was relieved to return to the respite of Circa and felt content to stay within the hotel for the remainder of the night. We did walk Fremont Street twice and also walked into a couple other casinos and shopped in one of the stores before returning to Circa. Circa definitely appears to be the newest and nicest hotel on Fremont Street, but still doesn't compete with the nicest hotels on the strip. I had no problem with having to show ID to enter as it does make you feel a bit safer and more secure. I don't think I'll be staying in downtown Vegas in the future, but if I was, I would definitely choose Circa over the other options.

Summer Promo We recently spent the weekend using the summer all in promotion. Upon checkin, youre provided a flyer that lists where you can use the promotion. We used this as our guide in making decisions. On our last day, we went to stadium swim and ordered drinks and food and charged back to the room. Based on the website and the flyer, we were not expecting this to be covered. Later that evening, we went to Legacy Club and spent what we thought was the credit because based on the info we had, we thought we had that to spend. Well lo and behold, the stuff at the pool was covered and our $100 bill at legacy was not. Upon checkout, we brought this to the front desk agent and the manager and while they acknowledged the flyer did not include stadium swim, we were told we “should have asked”. Im sorry, what? We were also told that our “agent at check in should have told you”. There was no apology and somehow it was all our fault? We are reasonable people, we understood that we were spending money, however, we would have never spent the money at the legacy club if their promotional information had been clear. The manager comped back half of the legacy charge but we still left with a sour taste in our mouth. While the resort is beautiful and the overall promotion is great, I can’t say that we would choose this again over staying on the strip.

Too Loud … All night long Hotel is amazing but the bass from stadium swim is constant. All day every day until well into the evening. They “upgraded” me on the way in to a pool view… I thought that was great until you realize that no one wants the pool view because of the insane bass that reverberates through your room. If you are partying until 2am then this hotel is amazing. If you want any sleep before midnight pick somewhere else.
