  • Work up a sweat in the fitness room.
  • Nearby attractions include the Tennessee Aquarium, Southern Belle Riverboat, and downtown Chattanooga.

Chattanooga, Tennessee: Museums and Parks Along the Riverfront

Set along the Tennessee-Georgia border, Chattanooga became a boomtown with the arrival of a major railroad in the late 19th century. The surrounding mountains and ridges made for a scenic backdrop for train passengers coming into the city. Today, the city is known for greener practices than the ones in its railway days: public parks, riverfront walkways, and a downtown electric shuttle are just a few of the improvements. Waterfront Coolidge Park is a popular downtown hangout where kids can hop on a century-old carousel and enjoy acres of open green space. During the summer, you can come here for concerts, festivals, and outdoor movie screenings.

Picked by the New York Times as 1 of 45 Places to Go in 2012, Chattanooga has seen a resurgence of arts and culture in recent years. It now hosts a number of annual art and music festivals and features several up-and-coming art districts filled with independent boutiques and galleries. Head to the Bluff View Art District for some spectacular views—the historic neighborhood is set high atop stone cliffs overlooking the Tennessee River. In addition to galleries filled with works by nationally recognized artists, the district recognizes the culinary arts, with several restaurants and the city’s oldest artisan bakery.

The per night price through Groupon for two separate nights there, and the proximity to Lookout Mtn attractions and interstate 24. Bad thing was that this hotel in in serious need of updating and cleaning. Hall carpeting was gross.

The people and workers were very nice, but the rooms were dirty, hair on the bedsheets, and our sink didn’t drain the water. The hallway also smelled like a mix of throw up and bad cleaner. If you don’t mind the messes for a cheaper price, that’s the only way I would recommend this spot. Worth a try once but I wont be going back to spend anymore nights.

Pleasant, basic hotel with terrible odor About a year ago we visited this hotel and were pleased with the price and location. Our only complaint was the noisy HVAC unit. So we packed our earplugs and booked again. This time, the HVAC units were new and quiet, but the hallways and the two rooms we visited had a strong odor that could have been mildew, pet, or cleaning products. We hoped we’d go nose blind to it (but didn’t). The lovely desk clerk was aware of the problem but had nothing to offer. Breakfast was fine and the pool was open, but I don’t think we’d return here.

You DO NOT get what you pay for. First I would like to thank Toni and Christina. Our stay here, including friends in another room, was full of issues. Despite that, Toni and Christina were both very kind and did what they could with the limited resources they had to work with. Had it not been for them, our stay would have been worse. We were skeptical about this place from the start. But, driving up from Tampa, there were not many choices in the area. The reviews all stated the place was updated so we said "why not?". That was a complete fabrication. This place has NOT been updated. In fact, it hasn't even been cared for. The whole place is run down and it is hit or miss if anything is going to work. We arrived and the room they gave us smelled like a wet dog. We were offered another room and we swapped out. Room 104. There was NO cold water in the shower/tub. It was scalding hot and there was no way to adjust the temp. Notified the front and we were notified no one would be coming to fix it. The score on the front door states the hotel received a 8.2/10 back in 2017. That is, probably, the last time anyone bothered to clean the place. The breakfast consisted of rubbery eggs and fake sausage links. The feeling I get from this hotel is the owner, possibly, puts as little into the place as he can so he can maximize profit over customer safety/satisfaction. We will never even look at this place let alone stay there. Choice Hotels should burn this place to the ground and start over.

Read reviews before booking We stayed here for 3 nights. It's OK, but plenty of work is needed. In the first room we had the air con was very loud and clearly wasn't working correctly with the thermostat as it just kept going. Then, the toilet overflowed, flooding the bathroom, the receptionist was great, she came up and cleaned the floor, allowing us to go in to retrieve our belongings to move to another room. The hotel is in desperate need of a deep clean and refurbishment. The breakfast is limited and basic, help yourself, but you're eating off paper plates with plastic cutlery. Despite the listing saying housekeeping was included, we didn't have our room serviced for the 2 days we were there. Towels in the second room were badly stained. The bed had a duvet on between the sheets, but no duvet cover on the duvet. Both of the rooms we were in had the front canopy covering the window, so no view whatsoever (the architect who designed the canopy is one you clearly wouldn't recommend!) Would we recommend the hotel? Maybe for a one night stop-over, but it's not what we expected.
