Kissimmee, Florida: Easy Access to World-Famous Theme Parks and Major Orlando Attractions

Located on the banks of Lake Tohopekaliga, Kissimmee sits about 22 miles from downtown Orlando and just 16 miles from the Disney Theme Parks. The world’s most-visited entertainment resort spans roughly 30,000 acres, encompassing four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Disney Springs® Area. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day at Magic Kingdom® Park by boarding a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. After that, ride a dune buggy through a haunted mansion. For dinner, head over to Epcot® to sample cuisine from Morocco, Mexico, France, Italy, and several other countries. As one of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is home to other theme parks including Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando's vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as the CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which holds improv shows five nights a week.

Trip to Cypress Palms I had an excellent time considering I was not near the water. Both the rooms and the staff were great.

Great Location, friendly and clean We have stayed at this location for over 10 x during the past 15 years. Convenient to golf, restaurants and Disney. The staff is always friendly and the grounds maintained. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of other resorts for kids, but that’s what we like about it. It’s quiet, convenient and great for a guys golf escape.

Mediocre stay at Club Wyndham Cypress Palms My recent stay at the Cypress Palms was mediocre overall, with both positive and concerning aspects that potential guests should be aware of. **Security Concerns:** During our stay, we noticed transients sitting on the steps leading down to the pool area from our hotel floor on multiple occasions. We reported this to hotel staff, but they seemed indifferent to our concerns. While they mentioned they would have security check the area, no action appeared to be taken as these individuals continued to occupy the space throughout our visit. **Check-in Experience:** Upon arrival, the lobby was filled with an overwhelmingly strong artificial floral air freshener that immediately gave me a headache. The scent was so overpowering that it made the initial check-in process uncomfortable. However, I must note that the check-in staff themselves were genuinely nice and helpful. **Room Quality:** The hotel room itself was pleasant and met our basic needs - it checked off all the standard boxes you'd expect. However, the televisions were noticeably outdated and could benefit from being upgraded to more modern units. **Location:** The hotel's location was definitely a highlight. Being able to walk to nearby restaurants and shops was extremely convenient, especially since we didn't have a vehicle during our stay. The walkability factor was a real plus. **Amenities Issues:** Unfortunately, we encountered problems with the pool area. The pool gate was malfunctioning, and our key cards wouldn't work to access it, which was frustrating when trying to use the facilities. **Final Thoughts:** While I wouldn't mind staying at the Cypress Palms again in a pinch if other options weren't available, it certainly wouldn't be my first choice for future visits. The combination of security concerns, maintenance issues, and the overwhelming lobby scent detracted from what could have been a more pleasant experience.
