Kissimmee, Florida: Easy Access to World-Famous Theme Parks and Major Orlando Attractions

Located on the banks of Lake Tohopekaliga, Kissimmee sits about 22 miles from downtown Orlando and just 16 miles from the Disney Theme Parks. The world’s most-visited entertainment resort spans roughly 30,000 acres, encompassing four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Disney Springs® Area. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day at Magic Kingdom® Park by boarding a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. After that, ride a dune buggy through a haunted mansion. For dinner, head over to Epcot® to sample cuisine from Morocco, Mexico, France, Italy, and several other countries. As one of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is home to other theme parks including Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando's vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as the CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which holds improv shows five nights a week.

3 Weeks at Wyndham Cypress Over the years we’ve stayed at Wyndham Cypress in Kissimmee. Over visits have always been positive until recently. The staff are very professional and do a great job, especially Gabi, Ted, Hector Jay and others. We were surprised however at the lack of security at pool 1. At several times, kids left unattended by their parents played volleyball on the pool deck at the same time parents were in the pool drinking openly beer, glasses of alcohol etc. Diving which is not allowed was performed regularly. We often encountered raccoons in stairwells as well at night they would run in the attic of building 6. This was brought to the attention of the management but this went on for the duration of our stay.

Wyndham Cypress Palms - excellent experience Stayed at this resort a number of years ago. It was fine but nothing too special then, and the one-bedroom was very small (just as they say it is). Decided to go back as the price was right and wanted to try a 2-bdrm. Was very impressed. Unit is very nice, good sized, clean, comfortable and quiet. Was on 3rd floor of Building 6 and looked out on the mini-golf course. Entire facility looks like it has been renovated. Colors are fresh and vibrant, furniture was well maintained if not new, everything was in working order, fitness room was well maintained, pools/spas were clean and painted, mini-golf looked like wasn't more than a few months old. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Facility is nicely located for attraction access, although the traffic is terrible at times (but it's that way throughout Orlando as something is always undergoing construction). Restaurants that are close are a bit "old-school" and that area looks a little run down, but the food is good. Old Town is just a few minutes away and it has tons of stuff to do. I could gripe about some minor things (e.g. hinge on a kitchen cabinet what was broken, difficulty reaching the cupboard for dishware) but it wouldn't lessen the experience at all. I would come back again.
