Williamsburg, Virginia: Historic Colonial Town

Part of the Historic Triangle of Virginia (along with Jamestown and Yorktown), Williamsburg was the capital of the colony. It played a central role during the American Revolution—American forces gathered here in 1781 to march to Yorktown for the war's final battle. The city pays homage to this patriotic past with a living museum where fifers march in Revolutionary War regalia and costumed actors portray everyday colonists. Historians have carefully preserved and restored dozens of 18th-century structures within the town; buildings of note include the home of George Wythe, the first Virginian to sign the Declaration of Independence. Yorktown Battlefield is to the east; here, park rangers tell the story of the Revolutionary War's final siege.

We love this resort. This was our first time staying in a 1BR unit. The units are clean and spacious. The check in/out processes are awesome. This time surprisingly, the TimeShare vultures did not bother us. I was really pleased about that. Staff is very friendly and courteous. The resort was busy. The only amenity that we took advantage of was the restaurant. The food was great. The wings had good flavor and bite. The SoBo hotdog, turkey sandwich, and burgers were absolutely delicious. They have alcoholic drinks in a can, but they are really good. Overall great experience! This is not our first and certainly not our last time staying at this resort.

Very nice resort…HOWEVER be prepared when you check in for the timeshare vultures! The room was very home like and clean, the resort it self was amazing. The in door pool was small for the size of the resort, we enjoyed the activities they had to offer. I would definitely return.

Spacious apartment with updated decor. Everything seemed new and in great condition. Loved all the activities for the kids and the close proximity to Busch Gardens, and colonial Williamsburg.

Wyndham -if you say NO to the showcase….then you better not need anything…cause you ain’t getting it Sadly- this time, the only postive things I can say is that the mini golf course is STILL perfect for families and it was nice to see the family outdoor pool open on Saturday after being told it was not likely going to be open when we arrived Thursday. The rooms have been updated, but the master bathroom sink in 31-201A was gross and the coffee pot was leaking terribly and was not fixed as promised. I have been personally coming to Powhatan/Kingsgate at least once a year for the last 30 years as my parents are timeshare owners. We have SCREENSHOTS of all texts/calls for purposes of documenting that if you say NO to the showcase, you will receive poor customer service. Check In- 1. Madisson (yes with 2 s’) was super friendly to the couple before us, but immediately changed her tone upon seeing we were a family with two kids who looked tired and likely were not there to get invested in a time share. There was no friendly chat- basically, i need your..,ID, cards, names……AFTER what felt more like an interrogation versus a friendly check in and finding it really disconcerting that they needed my minor kids names at check in and ages…then she said “now you have to go wait to get your keys…over there”.” No enjoy your trip, no have a nice night, no can I help you with anything else- after listening to her spend a good bit chatting up the people in front of us you could clearly see the difference. 2. Now, it’s annoying enough that you have a line 3 families deep waiting to see the check in staff- but now WE ALL HAD TO GO TO WAIT IN ANOTHER LINE to get keys and all 3 of those staff have others waiting as they were pushing EVERYONE into going to the showcase. We listened for several minutes as Dexter talked to the two people in front of us. 3. Dexter/Concierge- We know they are required to push the time share presentation, but I immediately told them my parents are owners locally and I really don’t want to waste your time or ours….he argued with us that it “wasn’t a waste of time” and told us we were pre-scheduled for 9AM. When I said we wouldn’t be coming, he said they would be calling me in the morning and he was still going to put the gifts on my account. He then proceeded to try and continue to push a welcome package on us and told us if we came we could get free stuff. We told him we were not interested repeatedly and My husband and I both said- we have a very packed week…and we really want to get the kids to their room. He said “here are you keys. She gave you your map.” 4. Next AM- 7AM texts start coming in from multiple staff - Rebecca, first and then, Michelle. In the midst of this We discover the coffee pot seal is broken when hot coffee pours all over the sink and counter when we are pouring it and while we planned to just “make do” when I got a 2nd text From Michelle at 9AM asking if we needed anything, I thought it was ok to tell her. WRONG. 5. All of the texts are part of their Bait & Switch Scam. The minute I replied, they started in on us attending the showcase at 9 & 12. I said we wouldn’t be attending, but asked about the coffee pot. 6. Less than 20 minutes had passed from the text about coming in to the showcase and I was attempting to get the kids out the door when I get a phone call- it’s Michelle. She asks for verbal consent to come fix the coffee pot and I say yes, but then she immediately starts in on trying to get us to come in. I said - we wouldn’t be doing it given my parents are owners. And then I CONFIRMED they would come take care of the coffee pot. This was at At 9:42 AM!!! 7. We come back at 9:45PM that night only to discover that they had never actually come to fix the coffee pot -it still had cold coffee in it. I can’t help but think that this was their snarky way of handling me because I didn’t want to come to their presentation.

Best place to stay in Williamsburg This was an AFVC rental, and it was the 4th time I'd stayed there. The room, facility, amenities, and staff are top-notch. While there is a $7 a day resort fee, it provides free access to the heated pool, heated indoor pool, adults outdoor pool (not heated), hot tub, three arcades, mini golf, tennis, gas grills, and a host of activities that changes each week (painting, tournaments, karaoke, etc.). The on-site, poolside restaurant was open (previously closed), and the food was good and affordable. The problem: This was spring break for VA and MD, and it was packed! All of the activities were busy, and the pool was full. The residents made this vacation difficult. They left trash everywhere, didn't clean up their free-use towels, and left teenagers unattended at the pools, revealing those great teenager attitudes. Many of the residents had a sense of entitlement that they didn't have to clean up after themselves and that they had a staff of people to cater to their needs. I'd stay there once again, but I hope the spring break schedules don't align. I don't know if this resort is attracting more trashy clients, or if it was just the circumstances of this visit, but their behavior was a major turn-off during this stay.

Awesome choice for our family! We stayed at CWK from Friday until Monday. I purchased a Groupon for a one bedroom for 3 nights. There are many buildings around, we stayed in building 5 which was directly across from the pool, activity center, restaurant etc. We did not have a balcony on our unit. The best features are the FREE arcade, Mini Golf, tennis, and pickleball. There is a beautiful indoor and outdoor pool. The outdoor pool has a bar area. Pool areas gets crowded in the afternoon. There is an adult pool also. Our room was spacious and awesome. The front desk was so welcoming and nice. I was not asked to go to the timeshare presentation because I was traveling alone with my son. The location was so close to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. I would definitely stay here again!!
