Bayfront Hotel Steps from Atlantic Ocean

Candy shops, art galleries, restaurants, gift stores, an amusement park, and even a carousel are all packed onto the boardwalk in Ocean City, situated right along an Atlantic beachfront. This compact area is popular during the summer, but it has a refreshingly peaceful atmosphere the rest of the year. Coconut Malorie Resort sits just a few miles north of this signature coastline, and it’s also near Isle of Wight Bay.

Head to the top of the resort and you can get sensational bayfront views to the east. Beyond the resort’s lobby—which features marble floors, a waterfall, and a chandelier—are the studios and one-bedroom units, which come with private balconies and kitchenettes or full kitchens.

A footbridge connects the resort to Fager’s Island’s entertainment complex, where DJs and live bands perform on weekends. You can also enjoy surf ‘n’ turf at Fager’s fine-dining restaurant.

Ocean City, Maryland: Family-Friendly Boardwalk next to the Atlantic

Along Ocean City’s century-old boardwalk, you can savor wild-caught blue crab, play old-fashioned arcade games, and watch candy makers spin colorful saltwater taffy. The lively boardwalk, which stretches for three miles along Maryland’s eastern shore, helped earn Ocean City a spot on USA Today’s list of the “10 great places to have some fun on a boardwalk.” Kids can ride a ferris wheel and climb aboard one of the country’s oldest carousels at Trimper’s Amusement Park, a family-owned theme park for more than 100 years.

Assateague Island National Seashore—a 37-mile stretch of salt marshes running from Ocean City down to Virginia—offers a peaceful reprieve from the boardwalk’s constant activity. The island’s famous wild horses gallop on the shores, and you can can climb up a vintage, candy-striped lighthouse, or hike the seaside forests to spot birds, including great horned owls, ruby-crowned kinglets, and great blue herons.

They pulled a bait and switch Firstly based on the hotels.com booking we were supposed to get a queen size bed it started with a full when we came in to the lobby you would assume that the hotel was up to date with the latest amenities we got to the desk staff was rude I was told that I had to pay for my entire stay up front I was also told that the hotel wasn't responsible for going missing for our rooms there was no safe in the room and sporadic security if security was there at all when we got there the air conditioner was down and had been down for a few days prior the furniture was old the couches and chairs were thread bare and dirty looking the bathroom was filthy there was a very foul odor in the hallways we got stuck in the elevators on three separate occasions while it was brief on one occasion my daughter began to have an anxiety attack I had to jump in the elevator to make the doors open the only saving grace with this hotel was the view of the Bay from our Juliet balcony there was one staff member a young African-American man who was extremely helpful polite and personable and that was the hotel's one redeeming quality it seemed as though whenever we came out of my room he was right there at the desk willing to help and go the extra mile he gave us reviews and information on where to eat where to go and how to get to where we needed to be....

DO NOT RECOMMEND I really wanted to give this hotel a good review, but unfortunately it was a two-star at best experience. First the good. Pros: - BEAUTIFUL views of the bay. - Very reasonable prices. We ended up staying here because we could get a one-bedroom suite (and thus keep the kids and us in a different room from us) for not much more than a single hotel room elsewhere. If you just want a place to lay your head, you'll likely be perfectly happy. - Kitchenette came in handy for saving money on eating out/feeding a picky eater - There's an available game room that was a lifesaver with a fussy toddler who was very over the beach by the end of the trip. There is a small collection of infant/toddler toys along with a ping-pong table, shuffleboard table, board games, cornhole, and other arcade games (which we didn't bother with since you have to pay for those ones unlike the others). This is the room that fully earned that second star from us. Cons: - This is a cheaper hotel... and it feels like it. The rooms are entirely serviceable, but felt old. One of the two elevators kept breaking down while we were there. There was no window in the actual bedroom of the one-bedroom (and so you only get that great view from the living room). Do not stay here if you want any type of luxury. - NO WiFi IN THE ROOM. Even though they "have WiFi", we couldn't get any signal in our room. When we complained to the front desk we got a very dismissive "well, we can have maintenance restart the router, but the signal is bad in the rooms. This was honestly unacceptable, in my opinion. We would have looked elsewhere if we were told it would be impossible to use the listed WiFi without trekking down to the lobby whenever we needed it. - The MOST uncomfortable pullout couch I've ever slept on. We were well aware that we likely weren't in for the most comfortable sleep when we decided to take the pullout in the living room to give the kids the darker/closed off bedroom, but beyond the standard "bar that always seems to be in the middle of your back" problem most pullouts have, this mattress was so flat and sagged so much it felt like trying to sleep in a hammock. Crappy night's sleep all around. - The door separating the living room from the bedroom is slatted (like plantation shutters) meaning it doesn't block out much noise. It was good to be able to keep the kids from seeing us and wanting to crawl into bed with us, but it meant being very quiet after bedtime. And since we had no WiFi in the room, that meant sitting reading the books we brought or watching the TV so quietly we could barely hear it. - The rooms weren't ready when we arrived at check-in. We arrived half an hour early and so were understanding when we were told our room wasn't ready yet. However, neither was it at 4 at actual check in. Or 4:30. The lobby was actually getting full of people who wanted to check in and didn't have rooms ready (and I'm sure they loved the fussy kids hanging around for over an hour). I'm sympathetic that cleaning protocols are still elevated, and I'm glad they're not messing around with COVID even now, but if there are multiple rooms not ready at the listed check-in time, there's a problem. - Check-out issues. When we checked in, we were told 11am for check-out. When we got back from breakfast at 8:30 morning of departure, our keys had already been turned off. When we complained, we were told that check out was actually 10am but daylight saving had caused some issue with the system. When we asked to stay until 11 like we were originally told, there was "nothing they could do" and we needed to get out. After being 45 minutes late on getting our rooms ready to start with, this seemed rather inhospitable (though who knows, maybe they were kicking people out early to try to get check-in sorted?) Also, I have no idea how Daylight Saving turned our keys off by 8:30, since that wasn't 10 or 11 before it happened. All in all, we will not be back and can not recommend this hotel to anyone who wants more than the most basic bed for the night.

Disgusting _ The room had a pile of dirt outside the door in which should’ve been a warning to us. The tub had a ring and mold on the tile( needs to be replaced) the toiled paper was on the roll from the previous guests, toilet had pubic hair on it. Fridge and freezer was visibly dirty with food spilled in it, kitchen floor was visibly dirty, the sofa bed had crumbs in it which shows the lines inside were not changed or cleaned. The location was great, the view was awesome but having to purchase cleaning supplies and gloves to scrub and clean a room before our stay is not my idea of a vacation. Please beware. Housekeeping laughed in our faces , told us he’s tired and half cleaned the room. I did see the manager upon checkout she was nice and helpful, and apologetic. I wish I could post these photos
