Stepping into Cartagena’s old-town district is like traveling back to the 16th century. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to sprawling plazas and well-preserved colonial architecture. Ornate balconies overlook a maze of narrow cobblestone streets that lead to historic attractions such as the Palace of Inquisition and Plaza de Santo Domingo.

Many attractions are outside of the walled city. The best—and most authentic—way to get around is on a chiva. Once a common mode of transportation, these wooden buses are decorated with colorful, festive designs, biblical imagery, and historic scenes. Ride a chiva a few blocks south of the old town to reach Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, which is widely considered the strongest fortress built in any of the Spanish colonies. Just southwest of the fortress is the Bocagrande peninsula, where beaches, nightclubs, and upscale restaurants sit in the shadows of modern high-rises.

Amazing !! The staff was amazing The food was amazing The hotel was amazing This hotel is 30 min from the walled city. So keep that in mind if you choose to book with them. Other then that you will enjoy your time there. Everything is amazing and you will have an amazing experience. The staff is there to help you and make your experience awesome. I loved my time there.

It was a nice hotel, however it was VERY boring. There is absolutely no entertainment, and the food is mediocre. The hotel is Extremely dark at night so be careful walking around. The beach chairs are very dirty and the pools need to be cleaned more frequently. Lastly, make sure you bring mosquito spray because the property does not spray at all. I left with about 14 bug bites.

Great peaceful escape. I stayed here for 5 nights, I got the suite with the private pool. The room was kinda small for a suite and the private pool water was too cold. I had great food at the restaurants great drinks at the bar, but I did not see the whole hotel. This place is massive and it is a good clip from the city center. I didn't see anything else to do out that way, and the ride back at night can be intimidating because it is off some back roads.Good times though.

Excellent place I stayed there along with my wife for our honeymoon and it was a great experience. The personnel very hospitable and kind. The food was good. The amenities great. The pools: wow. The SPA, a moment to remind. My wife was very happy. We would like to go back.

An AMAZING hotel stay - would absolutely recommend. GREAT PROPERTY! My fiance and I stayed here for 8 days in January and it was phenomenal. The welcome drinks upon arrival, the upgraded suite was beautiful, the grounds and the pool were very well maintained and the service was incredible in every area. As I mentioned, the welcome at the front desk was spectacular, we spent most of our days at the beach club, and while service was much better at the pool area, we enjoyed being by the ocean and the pool. The food was great for breakfast and lunch - we didn't eat there for dinner, because we went into town each night. We did get upgraded to a gorgeous two room suite for being Diamond members, which made the experience even better. We were worried about the location being far from the Walled City, but the complimentary transportation was fairly frequent and very easy. It wasn't a bad drive to and from where it cut into time and the shuttle allowed you to stay just late enough that you could have dinner and drinks and make it back. There was a consistent pick up and drop off spot so we were never worried that we had missed it and even one time we were running a bit late and the driver was looking for us - great service! The resort itself is sleepy at night and each night back in our room, we would bring back a bottle of wine from the shops but we would have gladly spent more money at the resort if the beach club bar was open at night and ended our night there. We truly had a spectacular stay at this property and cannot say enough good things about the staff, the building, the amenities, and the golf course. We would absolutely stay here again if we're lucky enough to come back to Cartagena. Thank you for an amazing stay!
