Good experience, clean room, nice staff, and overall a fancy hotel. We chose to park across for $25 a night because $60 for valet just wasn’t worth it to us.

Atlanta, Georgia: Urban Parks and Renowned Aquarium in Capital of the South

Named 1 of 50 Places of a Lifetime by National Geographic, Atlanta lies near the Chattahoochee River in Georgia's northwest region known for its famed trees: magnolias, pines, and dogwoods. Despite a metropolitan population of more than five million and what is considered the world's busiest airport by passenger count, Atlanta seems to always offer a relaxing escape. Stroll through the 185 acres of botanical gardens, hiking trails, and oaks at Piedmont Park, or study one of the country's largest Civil War exhibitions at the Atlanta History Center.

Anchored by historical Peachtree Street, the city's midtown area boasts a thriving arts-and-culture scene. Opened in 1929, the Fox Theatre features imposing Egyptian architecture and a custom-made organ with a network of 3,622 pipes. Tours take place on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. The High Museum of Art spotlights more than 12,000 pieces of contemporary and folk art, ranging from Renaissance paintings to photographs from the civil-rights era. Kids might better enjoy the Georgia Aquarium, located downtown at Centennial Olympic Park. One of the world's largest aquariums with more than 8 million gallons of fresh and marine water and more than 100,000 animals, the aquarium is home to beluga whales, lionfish, whale sharks, bottlenose dolphins, and more.

Deceptive pictures, not a great stay The pictures of this hotel on the website and having “Grand” in the name is deceptive. This is not a luxury hotel, but it felt like they advertised as much when I booked. The lobby might be nice but the rooms were in pretty poor shape. Though the room was big, there were full size beds instead of queens. The room at least was clean, despite being too worn out. The pool was decent and heated, but the lights were busted so unless those are fixed, expect later swims to be in the dark. Front desk service was slower than what we experienced at other hotels on this trip. There was always a line that didn’t seem to move. This was also the only hotel on our trip that did not include a breakfast. Instead we were given a $10 voucher which would have barely covered for a family of 4. If you are using the valet parking, expect $55 per night of your stay. Next time in Atlanta, we will definitely stay somewhere else.

Nice overnight For starters, always book directly. While shopping around third party sites weren’t accepting for our party of 5 (the youngest being 2 years old). Called them up and said they’d be happy to accommodate. Check in was pretty straight forward. Friendly staff explaining how everything worked and where the room was. Valet parking was chaotic. The little pull through area is tight and there’s not a lot of room. It gets tight and rather hectic. You do have unlimited come and go privileges if you’re a registered guest of the hotel. We had a 2 double room on the 8th floor in the North Tower. Room was kinda basic and reminded me more of a comfort inn or something more basic. Nothing wrong with that, but definitely not what I expected. It had a door to the outside like they used to have a balcony. Ac was a bit underwhelming. The North Tower rooms with a view facing South get plenty of sun. Bathroom was extremely small, and if you’re over 6 foot you will feel cramped in the shower. Everything was clean though with a fresh scent. That being said the water pressure was great and it was warm when needed. Pool area was nice. It was clean and towels were provided. Did give a weird vibe though. Can’t place it, just felt weird being center of the restaurant area etc. Location was decent, you’re about 3 uphill blocks away from Centennial, and 15ish minutes from the zoo. There’s a Dunkin a few blocks over as well. We didn’t eat on site but you do get a $10 voucher for food which helped get some juices and sodas from the quick grab store.

Avoid This Hotel if You Can This ended up being my worst hotel stays I’ve ever had. For context, we’ve stayed everywhere, from very cheap motels to expensive hotels, and we’ve never had issues like the ones we ran into here, so it was honestly shocking!!!!! The only things I actually liked were the indoor garden and the location. The bartender and the rest of the staff (front desk and restaurant) were okay, pretty much what you’d expect at any average hotel. What went terribly wrong: 1. We found bugs in our room not long after checking in. 2. The mattress and pillows were extremely uncomfortable, and I had neck and back pain the whole time. 3. The mattress cover didn’t even fit, so the old, stained mattress underneath was visible (as shown in the picture). 4. We also found cockroaches in the bathroom, which was absolutely unacceptable. Like, who could have imagined that? _ 5. The breakfast dishes and utensils weren’t clean, making the “included breakfast” basically unusable. Overall, I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from booking this place, and honestly erase the whole experience from my memory.
