Orlando, Florida: World-Famous Theme Parks and Cultural Surprises

Located in the center of Florida, Orlando may be forever associated with the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks—the world’s most-visited entertainment resort. Spanning roughly 30,000 acres, it encompasses four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Disney Springs® Area. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day by boarding a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. Walk across the park to sample Moroccan cuisine for lunch, or ride a dune buggy through a haunted mansion. Before heading back to the hotel, take in the nightly fireworks, laser, and water show. One of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is also home to Universal Orlando—which includes The Wizarding World of Harry Potter—SeaWorld, and Gatorland.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando's vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which hosts family-friendly improv shows five nights a week.

Fun hotel for kids, if you don't mind the extra fees Great hotel for kids. Loud sometimes with so many kids passing through the halls, and outside at the pool. The music playing outside in the courtyard was also heard through the walls with the balcony doors closed, but my kids didn't seem to notice/care. The kids (6 and 8 years old) loved the pool with the water slide. There is only one shuttle per day to the magic kingdom, and it didn't leave until after we were scheduled to meet the rest of our family there, so we still had to drive ourselves and pay to park. The room was clean, the staff were friendly, but the hotel did charge a $10/day resort fee that I was told would be refunded if I didn't used the $10 daily vouchers, at the time I checked out. When we checked out of our room, I was then told this was nonrefundable, and the vouchers were dated for each day of our stay so were now expired and couldn't be used. Overall, I would stay here again with kids if I had to. We didn't expect to have a balcony, which was nice to be able to hang beach towels to dry. Breakfast wasn't included, but the room had a desk to sit at and the balcony with a little table, so we went to Winn Dixie down the street and bought cereal/milk/bananas for quick/easy breakfasts during our stay. The parking was steep at $20/day. Because of the parking costs, lack of included breakfast, resort fees, and lack of available Disney shuttle times, I did opt to book a different hotel in the same vicinity for our next trip to Florida, but as far as my kids were concerned, it was the best vacation ever.

Great time at Orlando We had a wonderful time. The staff was very helpful especially José. Good selection of fresh fruits at the breakfast salad bar which is not so common around these places. My kids also loved Mickey Mouse shaped waffles. They have nice pool with lot of amenities for kids.
