Hotel at a Glance: Cove Haven Resort

In 1963, the Poconos-based Cove Haven Resort unveiled a heart-shaped tub in one of its guest rooms and has maintained that sense of romance ever since. The couples-only resort, overlooking Lake Wallenpaupack’s secluded shores, features a variety of romantically themed rooms for partners to share the perfect getaway. The list of activities—like billiards, racquetball, and a video-game arcade, as well as live entertainment including bands and comedians—provides something for every couple.

  • Start the day out right with the daily breakfast included in select options of this Getaway.
  • Things to do indoors: activities such as roller skating, tennis, archery, and swimming in the indoor pool.
  • Outdoor fun: You can hike around the property, go fishing in the pond, or hit one of the sports courts.
  • Live entertainment: Catch performances by bands, comedians, and other live acts.
  • Adventurous dining: Every night is a different culinary theme—from seafood feasts to regionally-inspired dishes.
  • Treat yourself: Drop by the spa for a hot-stone massage or aromatherapy body wrap (for extra fees).

Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains: Hiking, Trout Fishing, and Historical Towns

The Poconos region of northeastern Pennsylvania accounts for some 2,400 square miles of mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and forests. The area has been a popular vacation destination ever since Pennsylvania Quakers opened a hotel here on the Delaware River in 1829. Today, the Poconos draw more than 25 million annual visitors, thanks to year-round recreational opportunities and stunning natural scenery.

The warmer months are a great time to explore the region’s lakes and wooded hills. For spectacular hikes, check out Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, where you can trek to dramatic waterfalls or follow a 27-mile section of the historic Appalachian Trail. A handful of little towns full of antique shops and galleries nestle in the mountains, too. You’ll find boutique wine galleries and historical mansions tucked away on country roads, including the late 19th-century Asa Packer Mansion, which is open for tours, in the borough of Jim Thorpe.

The room was nice but almost all the amenities were closed. We were looking forward to the indoor pool/hot tub, billiards, mini golf, rollerskating, and lake activities but they were all shut down. And we weren’t informed of this when we called the day prior or during check-in, just had to figure it out on our own. We should have been informed before arriving and then we would have rescheduled.

We had a wonderful time @ cove haven. We read reviews and was leery but we got a clean beautiful updated room with clear water pool lol. Breakfast was great especially with mimosas and dinner was actually very good. Not too many activities were available bcuz of covid but all the fun we needed was in the room!
