My husband and I came to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and had such a great time! We thoroughly enjoyed all the activities, explored the resort, and even made some new friends. The staff are SO NICE and made our experience all the more enjoyable. Unfortunately, I suffered a medical event there, but the staff was quick to respond and extremely accommodating. They did everything in their power to make the rest of my stay comfortable and enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains: Hiking, Trout Fishing, and Historical Towns

The Poconos region of northeastern Pennsylvania accounts for some 2,400 square miles of mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and forests. The area has been a popular vacation destination ever since Pennsylvania Quakers opened a hotel here on the Delaware River in 1829. Today, the Poconos draw more than 25 million annual visitors, thanks to year-round recreational opportunities and stunning natural scenery.

The warmer months are a great time to explore the region’s lakes and wooded hills. For spectacular hikes, check out Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, where you can trek to dramatic waterfalls or follow a 27-mile section of the historic Appalachian Trail. A handful of little towns full of antique shops and galleries nestle in the mountains, too. You'll find boutique wine galleries and historical mansions tucked away on country roads, including the late 19th-century Asa Packer Mansion, which is open for tours, in the borough of Jim Thorpe.

I just wish... We have been going to the Cove Haven resorts for many years. It really has been going downhill. So many abandoned rooms and entertainment is lacking. There used to be headline entertainment years ago. No care is taken to the area anymore. Mildew on buildings and chairs, broken arcade games and just indifference to the resort as a whole. We stayed in the Champagne room and on first glance it looked great. Upon looking around we saw that the champagne glass was a mess. Chipped paint in the part where you sit and on the outside the mirrored glass was cracked and part of the champagne glass was broken. The massage table had ripped vinyl. Nobody is going to want to lie on that. The sauna never got really hot. There were good things though: the staff was all wonderful. Shout out to Chris in the dining room. He was awesome. Food was good both nights in the dining room. The boat ride on the lake was fun. The staff was great there. The rest of our room was decent. Very comfy bed and the pool area was clean. The shower was great too. We loved seeing the deer and feeding them. Reception area is very nice as well as the dining room. I just wish care was taken to the rest of the buildings. It looks terrible.

Ants on my scrotum. Our stay at Cove Haven (September 19–21, 2025) was extremely disappointing due to both a severe pest issue and the overall condition of the resort. On our first night, we noticed ants near the nightstand. We reported this to the front desk Saturday morning and were told maintenance would spray the room. By evening, the ants seemed gone, but Saturday night they returned in force. Takeout dessert containers were swarmed with ants, and later that night, we woke up to ants crawling on us in bed - an experience no guest should ever have to endure. On Sunday morning, we reported it again, only to be told, “A manager will call you later in the week.” It is now Wednesday, and no one has followed up. To make matters worse, upon unpacking at home, we found ants in our luggage and had to thoroughly clean our trunk, suitcases, and clothing to prevent an infestation in our house. Beyond the ants, the resort itself shows clear signs of neglect. The property is old, but not in a nostalgic “classic resort” way, in a poorly maintained, profit-driven way. Our room had improperly sealed windows between the bedroom and pool room, large chunks of stucco missing or separating from the walls, and deteriorated black silicone caulking. The bathroom shower drain gurgled when the sink was used. Around the resort, I found multiple expired fire extinguishers, some of which were over two years past their due date. That’s a serious safety concern. The staff experience was mixed. Some employees were excellent and tried their best, but most seemed apathetic, as if they knew the resort was in decline and were merely collecting a paycheck. The dining room food was another letdown: overpriced, dressed-up to look 5-star, but in reality, “boogie mid-grade” quality. And while the resort sells romantic add-ons like chocolate-covered strawberries and other food packages, it’s entirely unacceptable to market these luxuries when guest rooms are actively dealing with pest infestations. I paid over $1,200 for mediocrity and neglect. For a resort marketed as a romantic getaway, this was unacceptable. Between the pest infestation, dangerous lack of maintenance, and dismissive management, Cove Haven fell far short of expectations. Sadly, we cannot recommend this resort and will not be returning. However, Cove Haven provided something I had never experienced before. Ants crawling on my scrotum. Not recommended, but unforgettable.

Good place to relax or have a lot of fun Over the years we have stayed at Cove Haven a number of times going back to when it was run by Caesars. Each time we had a good time. There is enough to do so that you don't get bored, while at the same time, you can chose to just sit back and relax. The meals, breakfast and dinner, are always good with a good buffet selection for breakfast. At least the last time we were there. There is usually nighttime entertainment on the weekends ( which is usually when we go ) which is ok. We haven't been there in a couple of years now, but are thinking of returning soon. Oh, the speedboat rides on the lake is always enjoyable. Try it.
