Kissimmee, Florida: Easy Access to World-Famous Theme Parks and Major Orlando Attractions

Located on the banks of Lake Tohopekaliga, Kissimmee sits about 22 miles from downtown Orlando and just 16 miles from the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks. The world’s most-visited entertainment resort spans roughly 30,000 acres, encompassing four theme parks, two water parks, five golf courses, and the Walt Disney World® Theme Parks. There’s no shortage of things to do here: begin your day at Magic Kingdom® Park by boarding a rocket-shaped three-seater that climbs to 180 feet before entering a deep black tunnel and racing past stars, satellites, and constellations. After that, ride a dune buggy through a haunted mansion. For dinner, head over to Epcot to sample cuisine from Morocco, Mexico, France, Italy, and several other countries. As one of the most popular family destinations in the world, sunny Orlando is home to other theme parks including Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando.

Those hoping to shake up the typical theme-park-dominated itinerary can head into downtown Orlando's vibrant arts district. The neighborhood boasts venues such as the CityArts Factory, a multifaceted patchwork of gallery spaces, and SAK Comedy Lab, which holds improv shows five nights a week.

Charged double for hotel, earned half the MQDs. Delta Vacations is not good value for the money. I beg anyone considering this to think twice and do due diligence. It simply isn't worth it-at least not to me. If you are a medallion member, it REALLY isn't worth it. Just book the trip without going through DV. You'll save a lot of money and headache. We booked a delta vacation because we were close to the next medallion level, and thought that would be a great way to make it to the next level--IF it really was dollar for dollar. So I called and checked. Yes, it was dollar for dollar, I was told. Both flights and hotel. So I went ahead and looked for a trip. We chose Brussels. Before I booked, I called and asked some questions about flights, and also again asked, dollar for dollar on air and hotel? Yes. But this time she added, "but the person who books and pays gets the hotel MQDs. I asked why. She said because there is no way to split it. Oh, I say, OK, I get that. So I book the trip. When I'm booking the trip however, I notice that the hotel is priced per person, and it is full freight-for BOTH people. I check the hotel pricing outside of DV, and discover we both have to pay the regular price for the hotel, effectively charging us twice what it would be if we had just booked it ourselves. I paused here, but pushed on to see what airfare was. Airfare was about 1500 cheaper than if we just booked them ourselves. So the total difference between the two turned out to be about 1500. We were ok with that if it mean we'd get the MQD's for the hotel. Little did I know. So that was the first experience...then on the way there, we get delayed in Amsterdam because of fog. We call, and are told you need DV, not Delta airlines. I didn't know this until after the fact, but there seem to be complaints about how they handle issues with travel interruptions-no one wants to take responsibility for helping when things go wrong. So we get to Brussels, albeit a little delayed, but otherwise good. The week was great. Loved Brussels and all the cities we visited there. Time to come home. After getting home, we see that the MQDs aren't what they should be. And I don't mean a little off. I mean WAY off. We paid almost 53% in taxes and fees (I've googled this and researched, it's 20% more than any other flight, including an identical flight I checked on Delta. There is no reason in my mind to book a delta vacation, especially considering the double hotel charge.

Family October half term trip We stayed here for ten nights over UK October half term and it was extremely quiet. The rooms are spacious and clean with two large comfortable double beds, a dining area, and hot shower, fridge and 50 inch tv. What else can you possibly need after a full day in the parks. There was housekeeping available everyday. There is a Starbucks in the reception area alongside a sports style bar and small tuck shop. There is also a gym and large swimming pool with waterslide. (Too cold for me but my adult children did get in) There was also a laundrette along from our room. Staff are polite and friendly. The hotel is within a short driving distance of the Disney parks, large Walmart etc, and a short drive to restaurants such as Olive Garden and outlet shopping areas. It’s about 25 minutes drive to Universal. We loved it here and would definitely book again. Excellent value for money. It’s a big thumbs up from us.

If this hotel was on a dating site it’d be a catfish Pros: Staff are nice and the landscaping/pool area is beautiful. That is literally it. Let me just say we take reviews with a pinch of salt because people can’t half be picky but trust me on this one. The area is unsafe, this hotel is NOT in Celebration. Lots of dodgy people about at night, we walked right in through the back of the hotel pre check-in, no key card at 8PM! The car park is accessible by anyone, saw a previous review from 2024 stating this, with a response from the hotel, no fix though. There is an abandoned hotel right behind which is pretty scary, occupied by homeless and other strange people. Do NOT leave anything in your vehicles. Search Orlando Sun Resort on YouTube, if you want the creeps. The hotel rooms are dirty and old. It smells bad of mould/damp. We asked to move rooms, which was accommodated but there was little improvement. The conditions of the rooms are terrible, do not expect what you see on the hotels official pictures. Our bath tap was hanging off the wall, the safe didn’t work, the rail in the wardrobe was rusted and don’t even get me started on the carpets, ew! When we moved rooms, the exact same issues were in the new room, by the time we were going home our clean clothes smelled musty. They must of ran out of money during refurb because the rooms have been updated by America’s dodgiest landlord. Disappointing that Virgin Holidays would sell this hotel, I expected much better. We told the rep our budget and that we would like a nice place to stay but nothing too fancy, this place did not meet expectations. We literally went to a water park for a ‘rest day’ as this hotel was not somewhere we felt we could relax and enjoy downtime from the parks, which is a shame. Lesson learnt, never let a rep pick your hotel.
