Within the jungles of the Dominican Republic's Samana province, a grove of trees has been transformed into a natural resort of open air cabins perched above the forest floor. A large eco-lodge crafted from local materials acts as the resort's hub, surrounded by 22 open-air treehouse cabins designed for rest, relaxation, and 360-degree panoramas of the surrounding jungle. The lodge itself hosts special events like weddings and yoga retreats, complete with a full bar and catering kitchen designed for family-style meals. A number of optional activities are also available to book through the front desk to bring adventure and leisure to each trip: think zip-lining, cliff jumping, horseback riding, cave exploration, secluded beach relaxation, ATV beach excursions, and boat tours.

Each cabin is perched high above the ground and enclosed by curtains and a well-built railing, showcasing the jungle's natural wonders in a private haven. Meanwhile, hand-woven decor and hanging chairs make the perfect spot to curl up with a good book (or two). Pathways connect the entire property, showcasing the jungle's organically grown fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Samaná, Dominican Republic: Picturesque Beaches and Waterfalls

The Samaná Peninsula juts out from the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic, soaking up the Caribbean Sea’s balmy subtropical temperatures. Its tucked-away, sugar-sand beaches are its biggest draw, followed by its exotic landscape: according to Frommer’s, it’s “as Casablanca as the Caribbean gets.”

El Salto del Limón waterfall is among Samaná’s most breathtaking natural features. You can ride horseback through the surrounding forests to get to the falls, which tumble over 165 feet of rocks and tropical vegetation. On the Dominican Republic’s mainland, Los Haitises National Park is home to mangrove forests and limestone crags that peek out of the water.

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!!! I was looking for a unique vacation to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. We had an amazing time. His response? “This was the best vacation I have ever been on”. We especially enjoyed meeting the beautiful people who live there. Yes, we will be going back!

This was the most amazing experience I've ever had. It didn't just feel like we were in the jungle, we actually WERE in the jungle. The first night here it rained and it was literally the best sleep I have EVER had. The beds are super comfortable too and although the jungle is known to be humid (and it is) you don't feel the humidity at all because of the light constant breeze. If there was one improvement I could suggest it would be that they heat the pool! It is open 24 hours but it is so cold at night to swim in it, which was a little disappointing for me. It didn't take much away from the fact that the stay was incredible and the area itself too. We rode bikes down to the beach and it was nice seeing the village on the way. The beach is super clean too and since it's a small village it wasn't crowded at all. A true paradise. I would definitely go back if I could! And I completely recommend investing in this vacation. I still can't believe this was a Groupon.

A True Jungle Immersion - Not Luxury, Pure Magic Let me be clear upfront: this is not a luxury resort. This is sleeping IN the jungle, and you need to be ALL IN for that experience. If you are? You’re in for something unforgettable and amazing. We stayed from December 28th through January 2nd - ringing in the New Year deep in the Dominican jungle - and it was absolutely superb. My 18-year-old son and I traveled with the group “You Can’t Steal My Happy,” which was amazing in and of itself, and we arrived as a big group of travelers and left as fast friends, bonded over rum, karaoke, and breaking bread together under the jungle canopy and among the trees. The jungle is ALIVE here. Huge snails munching on toilet paper in the bathroom (honestly, cool). Tree frogs hanging out in your room (very cool). Falling asleep to the symphony of birds, frogs, and rustling leaves. You are truly one with nature, and it’s absolutely extraordinary. The accommodations are clean, the beds have mosquito nets (I got exactly one bite the whole week), and I slept wonderfully. The grounds are exceptional - there’s a stunning waterfall, fantastic hiking, and the on-property zip line soaring high over the jungle canopy with sweeping views might be the best I’ve ever done. The food deserves its own paragraph. Local chefs cooking with such love and care - the beans and rice alone were perfection. Fresh bread baked on site. Every meal felt like an authentic immersion into Dominican culture, not a tourist version of it. The staff made this place. Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating, but I have to call out Aurea specifically - she is an absolute treasure and a true asset to the Tree House. She was there for our every need with a warm smile. A few things to know: the showers are shared (about 8 for everyone), so if you need your own private hot shower, this isn’t your spot. That said, the water was hot and we rarely waited. Also, bring warm clothes for nighttime - the jungle cools down. We visited the local beach (stunning), always felt completely safe, and spent our evenings with the rum flowing, singing karaoke, and genuinely connecting with each other and this beautiful place. If you want a big group adventure immersed in local culture, nature, and authentic Dominican life - this is it. Come ready for the jungle, and the jungle will give you its absolute magic in return. Come ready for adventure. It’s worth it.
