Beyond the Las Vegas Strip: Old Vegas and Red Rock Canyon

It can feel like the entire city of Las Vegas revolves around the Strip if you never venture beyond that neon-lit corridor. But there’s plenty to see and do once you step off Las Vegas Boulevard. You can find a taste of Old Vegas on Fremont Street, where vintage signs and showgirls crowned with headdresses recall the days of Sinatra and Martin. Beginning at dusk, a canopy of more than 12 million LED lights erupts in a psychedelic light-and-music show every hour. For an aerial view, zoom down the center of Fremont Street on a zipline.

Nature puts on its own show at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, a landscape of fiery-red sandstone formations and limestone cliffs just 17 miles outside the city. Motor down the 13-mile scenic drive or ditch the car and strike out on any of more than 20 hiking trails that course through the region’s otherworldly topography.

The hospitality of all employees from housekeepers to management. Very clean and quiet to be on Fremont Street. The pool was clean, beautiful gum, and I loved unlimited putting quarters located on site!

No. Nope. Never. This place is so sketch. The word boutique is laughable. I am a single woman traveling solo and trusted the TA reviews and booked my reservation the day of. After a $26 Uber drive there, I knew I was in trouble the minute I got there by the appearance. On the positive side, it seems like the employees like each other and were cutting up with the handy man. That’s it. That’s all I have for positives. Checking in is ridiculous. They don’t really check you in. They ask for your license and then send you to kiosks to make your own room keys. It is not intuitive. Nothing is labeled so its a mess deciding where to scan your ID vs your room keys. When I made my reservations on here, my confirmation said that I paid the majority of the room and that I would only owe $20 when I got there. The kiosk said $100. I was so tired at that point I just put my card in and paid it. Walking to the room was extremely sketchy. I have no idea how there are positive reviews of this place. The clientele looked like it was a motel people live in. There was homeless man right outside my door and I was on the first floor. I was tired and needed a shower anyway so agIn, I just took it on the chin. Once I got in the room it did look like the pictures online but close up you could see that there aren’t close ups for a reason. Homeless people kept walking by my door. I went to the front desk to ask for my money back, but they told me I had to call TA for a refund. TA refused to give me anything back and told me repeatedly it was non refundable. Ok. I told both that I felt incredibly unsafe and just couldn’t sleep there. The place was NOT as advertised on this page. No one at TA would help so I wound up sitting on the curb crying trying to figure out what to do. I called an Uber and am just going to spend the night at the airport. I’m so disappointed in TA after all the years I have used them for bookings and reviews. I called an Uber and told her about my experience and she looked up the hotel on Bookings. She was reading the reviews to me and they were terrible. Not sure who wrote all these positive reviews on TA but no. There’s no way someone could give this place praise. RUN from this place.

Do not come here they falsified charges Do not come here they will give you a rate you’ll pay it and then they will charge your credit card an extra like $40 and not even tell you not give you a bill and hope you don’t notice and then when you do notice they try to like pretend they don’t know what you’re talking about and tell you it’s an amenity fee, but then you already pay the fee fee. They don’t really care And then the people at the front desk are just kind of like blah. They don’t care they don’t like their job you can tell they don’t care. You can tell that it’s run by maybe a person that really does care about their job. Her name is Dee is cool. When I dealt with her, she resolve any of my issues but like you can’t get coffee after like 10 AM, which it’s Vegas I don’t understand like you would think therapy coffee all day in the lobby, but yeah, check your credit card statements cause they’re coming out to this place is not OK. I have the receipts to prove it and screenshots. You can go to Google maps for the evidence.
