Downtown Minneapolis: Thriving Performing-Arts Scene near Idyllic Lakes

Downtown Minneapolis is more than just the geographic epicenter of the city—it’s the cultural heart too. Sports venues home to the Timberwolves, Vikings, and Twins neighbor the lively nightclubs of the Warehouse District and the neon-lit marquees of the Hennepin Theater District. In recent years, the city’s arts scene has gotten a lot of attention, and for good reason: Minneapolis has more live theater shows per capita than any other US city except New York. Additionally, dozens of eclectic galleries complement the wide-ranging exhibits at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, which showcases everything from Japanese woodcut prints to turn-of-the-century European advertisements.

To navigate downtown with ease, step into the Skyway, the city’s ingenious solution to harsh Minnesota winters. The Skyway is a network of indoor, aboveground tunnels connecting a slew of buildings downtown. A popular stop along the way is Nicollet Mall, a shopping thoroughfare where cars are not allowed. This is where you’ll find the iconic statue of Mary Tyler Moore tossing her 10-gallon Stetson into the air.

We used park and fly with shuttle. I lost my phone on the shuttle. They went above and beyond to get me my phone in time Above and beyond accommodating! They sent my lost phone on a shuttle to be delivered to me at the airport before my flight boarded. Rooms were clean and quiet. Easy to get to and very friendly staff. We were able to walk to a restaurant down the street for dinner.

Disappointing While the hotel was lovely and the room perfect, we were totally dismayed since the advertised shuttle service never materialized. We paid an upcharge for Park and Fly and then an extra $109 for extra days of parking. We arrived early afternoon and were told the shuttle was full for the next morning unless we left at 530 which was ridiculous. So we took a cab for $45. Then on the return when we called at 6 am after an overnight flight, we were told we would have to wait for over 45 minutes. Not an option when we had an 8 hour drive home. Another $40 cab ride. This was totally unacceptable.we would never stay here again. When this happened to us on Winnipeg, the hotel paid for the taxi. A service which is often not available should not be advertised

Beautiful Property, Customer Service.....not so much! The property is new and is beautiful, however the customer service is lacking severaly. First, I"m a Marriott employee, one of the perks of being such is that we get 20% off of all food and beverage across ALL BRANDS. Even states that right on the discount card. May want to touch up your Explore Program training because it's lacking. The employee on Friday had the nerve to say not all hotels are created equally. Um, actually under Marriott our discount is very clearly defined. Then, my son went down Friday night and charged 2 drinks to the room, the next morning I was very sick so I sent him down to get me a white soda and something salty to combat the nausea and they told him they don't allow people to charge things to their room. I'm confused, do you or don't you?! Do the employees just make up their own policies for each shift? So I had to get dressed and go down and pay for the things on my card while feeling so sick. Plus, what hotel doesn't allow you to charge things to your room? Also, please stop with the turkey sausage, it's disgusting or at least offer different varieties of sausage. Also, absolutely zero acknowledgement about being a Bonvoy member, which goes against brand standard. Trainging would help tho, I think.
