My husband and I chose this hotel to because it was very close to the beach, shopping and dining. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary in Destin and we were upgraded to a room with a King bed, had a double Queen bed room originally, which was nice. The hotel itself was nice and well kept but…..I ended up getting bit by bed bugs during my stay there.

Destin, Florida: Sugar-Sand Beaches and Lively Fishing Scene

Think of Florida, and the image that comes to mind probably looks a lot like Destin. Located on a thin peninsula overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, Destin’s plentiful beaches are some of the whitest in the world due to the sand’s high concentration of fine quartz crystal. Lay down your towel at Crystal Sands Beach or Henderson Beach State Park, or go swimming and snorkeling at Jetty East Beach. At Gator Beach, you can watch alligators in action from the safety of a beachside bar and grill.

In addition to its beaches, Destin is famous for its fishing culture. The town was established by a fisherman named Captain Leonard Destin and still goes by the nickname “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.” Any time of year, you can find well over 100 charter boats (and a few party boats) in Destin Harbor, ready to take tourists out on the water. Every autumn, the Destin Fishing Rodeo draws more than 30,000 fishermen hoping to lure in sailfish, marlin, wahoo, and king mackerel—not to mention a big cash prize.

Convenient but not perfect I stayed at this location 6 years ago and knew it's a good spot. Checkin went smooth. The room was clean. Our 2nd floor "Gulf View" room had a balcony but we couldn't see the water over the trees across the street, and our only view was the highway which is noisy. There were some nice sunsets. Our first night was Halloween and the room above us had partygoers that were noisy and disruptive. I called the desk to complain but there was no answer. The indoor pool is bathtub temperature and so relaxing to swim in, which is the main reason I came back. Breakfast has good variety with typical Fairfield food but a poor layout with 4 different sections for food and coffee that got congested and most of the tables wobbled. One of the 2 elevators was not working so I had to wait or take the stairs. Both stairways exit outside the building, so make sure your haver your room card if taking them. The lot has EV charging stations and a walkway to the Fudpuckers complex. Aside from that the area isn't very walkable. Henderson Beach State Park is across the street and has a daily entry fee of $6. The beach is fairly clean and quiet compared to other public beaches we went to, and smells better. The hotel is on the main drag which is a US Highway so there are limited places to cross. You end up making a U-turn each time getting back to the lot, which can be aggravating. Overall, it's a good spot and affordable and has a nice indoor pool. If you can overlook the quirks it makes for a nice stay.

Girls trip Room was clean, beds were very comfortable and the staff were super friendly. Indoor and outdoor pool was nice. Breakfast had so many options and was included. Great location across the street from Henderson Beach.

Elevator Out of Service on Two Different Occasions Have stayed at this property twice! Both times they have had an elevator out of order. Just last weekend both elevators were out of order. They got one fixed but the original one was still out of order. On another note, the room had a very strong smell of air freshener. I will not be staying here again.
