Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

Good value for clean and comfortable accommodations considering NYC hotel prices these days. I've stayed in other POD locations and always enjoyed them. Be sure to be VERY clear that you already paid through Groupon when you check in though! The front desk person charged the card I provided for incidentals for the full cost of the stay. Thankfully I caught it immediately and the staff apologized and promised to fix it for me promptly when I called.

Delayed checking in so we could get a room with a view. Went back 2 hours later & still got a lower room. We were out all day in 35 degree weather & come back to our air conditioner not working. We had to switch rooms (to an even lower room) at midnight, while I had a headache & just wanted to sleep. Offered a queen bed as an upgrade but my daughter wanted bunk beds. No other compensation offered. Good location, 5 mins from our bus.

Okay hotel, not great My stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing. When I checked into my first room, the room had a strong, unpleasant odor, it smelled dirty and simply wasn’t suitable for a guest. I notified the front desk and, to their credit, they did move me to another room, which I appreciated. However, the experience only got worse from there. The bartender downstairs was extremely rude and unprofessional. I politely asked for a cup of ice, and she acknowledged me, saying she would get it after making drinks. Two other female guests came up after me, and she immediately served them instead , giving them their drinks and water bottles with urgency, while continuing to ignore me. When I asked again, she responded by saying she was “serving the paying guests first,” as if I wasn’t one. There are ways to speak to people, and this was flat-out disrespect. It was clear she did not care whether I was a guest or treated fairly. No paying customer should be talked to or dismissed like that. Overall, the service here needs serious improvement. Between the condition of the first room and the rude interaction at the bar, this is not a hotel I would recommend or stay at again

Looking forward to going back Great location to be near Times Square but away from all the noise at night. Rooms are extremely clean. Staff is always available. Great breakfast selection and bar does not serve lunch or dinner. Around the corner of plenty of restaurants to bring your food back to enjoy in their sitting area on the main level where the lobby is.

Good location but impersonal staff and malfunctioning elevator Pros: Location 2 blocks from Times Square Pretty quiet - given location (except for AC) Affordable given NYC/location Room clean Cons: Room size exceptionally small. Ok for one night but unless staying by yourself, not a 2+ night hotel. Novelty wears off quickly. Lifts. One of 2 going up to lobby level broken. Decide to fix in peak hour - shuttle everyone into some barely functioning service elevator in the next door building. Staff pretty rude about it. AC. It sounds like a jet plane taking off, it’s so loud. We had to turn it off to sleep. Staff. I have never seen so many staff standing around talking as at this hotel. Even on check in, the female staff member was having a side conversation with a colleague about another guest. Probably the most impersonal staff I have encountered of any hotel I’ve stayed at. And so many- soooo many staff. All talking to each other.
