Top Reasons to Visit The Graduate by Hilton Providence

  • The Graduate by Hilton Providence was constructed in 1922 and its interior design was inspired by grand European hotels. It has been newly renovated as of May 2014.
  • It's located in the heart of downtown Providence, close to museums, shopping, and the Rhode Island Convention Center.
  • You can fuel up with coffee and salads or sandwiches at the newly opened Poindexter Coffee on site, or at one of many restaurants within two blocks of the hotel.
  • The hotel has served as a filming location for several movies, including 27 Dresses and The Last Shot.

Providence, Rhode Island: Historical Haven for Foodies and Arts Enthusiasts

Home to Brown University, Johnson & Wales University, and Rhode Island School of Design (or RISD) among other schools, Providence is known as an educational hub. But with an active arts scene, the city has more recently been called “The Creative Capital.” Downtown, you’ll find the arts-and-theater district, where galleries and vibrant storefront displays line the streets. Stagecraft thrives at the Tony Award–winning Trinity Repertory Company, and nearby, the Providence Performing Arts Center hosts touring Broadway shows.

The city's restaurant scene rivals the arts scene in its creativity and local enthusiasm, from the enclave of Italian eateries on Federal Hill to the delis downtown. Local chefs often draw from the regional farms bordering the city for their culinary creations; many gather downtown to shop at the farmers' market.

It's very different—a somewhat wild mixture of wallpapers, couches, and upholstery. It's something to remember, for sure. When in Providence, this is a unique spot, and the breakfast area is also small, unique, great coffee, etc. Great location near the waterfront (Providence River) and restaurants.

This place should be condemned! This place should be condemned …dirty, outdated and smelly. We checked in and out within 20min. after viewing the room. Stay anywhere else. Woman at the front was also quite rude as it was nearly midnight.

Disappointing and overpriced Upon our arrival on Saturday night, we were horrified to find the pullout sofa bed covered in hair, a disgusting sight that immediately set a terrible tone for our stay. To make matters worse, there were no linens provided for the pullout bed; we were simply told to go to the front desk and pick some up ourselves—an unforgivable oversight. Housekeeping completely failed to clean our room on Sunday despite multiple requests from us, leaving us to fend for ourselves. We finally managed to get clean towels only late that evening, a frustrating and unacceptable inconvenience. The instant coffee offered by the hotel was utterly vile—cheap and disgusting—completely unacceptable for a place charging premium prices. The hotel restaurant was a huge disappointment—both the quality of the food and the service were well below any reasonable standard. As if that weren’t enough, the spa was either closed or out of business during our entire stay, adding to the sense that we were being shortchanged. To top it all off, our room was adjacent to a parking garage under construction, and the relentless noise of jackhammers woke us up early and continued throughout the day, making rest impossible. For the amount of money we paid, I expected far better. Instead, I’m left furious and disappointed. I have canceled our return reservation to Providence and will be seeking better accommodations elsewhere—I refuse to endure this level of neglect and frustration again.
